Delightful Dozen Be My Valentine

Although it is hard to see in the picture, this is a white on white card.  I know, it looks more like Very Vanilla, but I assure you it is white!  The class' versions were a bit different.  I had a great, creative bunch and they actually did their own placement of the hearts and sentiments.  The one thing I forgot to do was take pictures of some of their designs.  They did such a good job of it.

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen, My Friend; Inks:  River Rock, Riding Hood Red; Card Stock:  Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Full Heart Punch, Heart To Heart Punch, Jewels Basic Rhinestone

Card number four was easy, fun and quick to put together.  I love the Riding Hood Red and River Rock colors combined.

Island Indigo Elegant Thank You

For this card, I prepared two cards for each of the new In Colors and they had their choice of colors.  The cards were absolutely gorgeous and not all were Valentine themed as they wanted to use other sentiments.  I thought that was great!

The color I chose was Island Indigo.  During the class I did mix it up and used a different sentiment on the card I made to demonstrate what they were to do.  I'll show those in coming days.

Stamp Set:  Elegant Thank You; Ink:  Island Indigo; Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Whisper White, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Labels Collection Framelits Die, 2011-2013 In Color Designer Printed Brads, Linen Thread, Big Shot, SNAIL Adhesive, Crop-A-Dile

When I showed them the Crop-A-Dile, it got a few 'oohs' and 'aahs' and big eyes.  You have to admit, it is rather a funny looking tool.

There you have the third card we made.  What was fun was seeing them use the other side of the Designer Series Paper.  It made for some very striking designs.

Candy Conversations

Our Valentine Card Class was so much fun!  Laughter and beautiful cards; what a great combination!

Since our time was limited to two hours, I kept the designs more towards the clean and simple kind.  There were five designs and they made two of each design for a total of ten cards.

As we progressed through the cards, I added a few more steps and some embellishments.  Here is the second card we made.  For this one I had them stamp and punch their own blossom.  They thought that was great!

Stamp Sets:  Candy Conversations, Mixed Bunch; Ink:  Riding Hood Red; Card Stock:  Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla, Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Blossom Punch, Jewels Basic Rhinestone

A simple and clean sweet valentine.

Lovely As A Tree

Over the next few days I'll be sharing with you the cards I made for a class being held at the Crafters Gift Boutique, a craft store that features work of local crafters and it's where I have a display.  It is scheduled to be a Valentine Card Class but I decided to show a birthday card just to show them that with a change of sentiment, you can fit a card to your need.

Lovely As A Tree is a great stamp set to use for a birthday.  It can be either masculine or feminine.  The one I made is more of the former.  To make it more feminine, you could add a bow made with ribbon and change the sentiment to a more frilly one.

Stamp Sets:  Lovely As A Tree, Delightful Dozen; Inks:  River Rock, Old Olive, Night of Navy; Card Stock:  Naturals White

This is the first card in a set of five.  It is a very easy card  and all there is to it is stamping.  I wanted to start out clean and simple to show them that you don't need a lot of product to make great cards.

Changes Are A Coming

Exciting things are happening at Stampin' Up!®.  Here are just a few of the changes you can look forward to:

The Idea Book & Catalog is changing and will now be known as the Annual Catalog.  It will have fewer pages but will still feature wonderful stamp sets, ink, paper and accessories.  And, there will be plenty of examples, too!  It will run from June 1st, 2012 through May 30th, 2013

Two mini catalogs will be available each year and they will be a bigger 8-1/2" x 11."  And, they will have more pages.  The first Spring Mini will run from January 2013  through May 2013 and the Holiday Mini will run from August 2012 through early January 2013.  They will each be active for five months instead of the now four.

The Decor Elements and Simply Adorned products are being discontinue as of May 31, 2012.  So, if there is anything from either line you've had your eye on, I encourage you to order it now.  You can call me, e-mail me or order online by clicking the Coffee Pot logo on the upper right.

And here is a special sneak peek of a new stamp set that is going to be in the new Annual Catalog.  It's called Everything Eleanor and it's been very popular in the UK catalog.  I am so glad Stampin' Up!® adding it to our catalog.

So, there you have some of the changes.  In the coming days, I will continue to share with you more of the changes that are in coming.  Like I said, exciting things are happening!

Until we meet again...

Matchbook Valentine Treat

Last Friday evening I had the pleasure of enjoying pizza with my youngest son and his family.  I had been crafting all afternoon so took the prototype of a candy box holder over to show Zac and Nic to see if it would be something they would like to give on Valentine's Day.  They really liked them and are excited about sharing them with their classmates.  I made several yesterday morning to take to the Gift Boutique but, unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of them so when I make up the ones for my boys', I'll be sure to show them to you at that time.

But, never fear, I have another little treat holder that is so easy to make that once you start you won't want to stop!  Well, maybe not, but it is a cute idea and takes no time at all to make.

Card Stock:  Love Patterns Designer Series Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Rose Red, Pink Pirouette; Accessories & Tools:  Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Square Punch, Full Heart Punch, Small Heart, Crop-A-Dile

Although you can't see it, there is a small package of candy inside the matchbook.  And, there was no stamping to do.  It is all card stock and punches!

And before I forget to mention it, my new Events Schedule has been posted.  Lots of fun and lots of classes.  Be sure to check it out.

Until we meet again...

3 x 3 Love Notes

Yes, more Valentine cards.  But, these are just little love notes.  These are two sets of eight.  I thought it would be fun to make some small Valentine cards that would be great to add to a gift bag.   A box of chocolates, a pretty bow and a Valentine love note.  Well, it works for me.

Stamp Sets:  Outlined Occasions (left card), Teeny Tiny Wishes(right card); Ink:  Real Red; Card Stock:  Whisper White, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Red Glimmer Paper (left card), River Rock, Love Patterns Designer Series Paper, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White (right card); Accessories & Tools: Big Shot, Hearts Collection Framelits Die, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Small Heart Punch, Stamping Sponge

Little love notes may be small but they can say so much.

Fresh Vintage Love

This morning I woke up to a rather unpleasant surprise.  My furnace is only blowing out cold air.  It won't be fixed until tomorrow so I'm just keeping busy and utilizing my oven for heat.  I'm taking a bit of a break from baking before I make a batch of cookies.

Today's card is another Valentine card.  I have a few to make to send to family and friends plus I have two swaps happening this week.  Oh, and a class being held at the Crafters Gift Boutique where I have a display.  It's going to be another busy week.

Stamp Sets:  Fresh Vintage, Three Little Words; Inks:  Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder; Card Stock:  Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Big Shot, Hearts Collection Framelits, Adorning Accents Edgelits Die, Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Clean and simple.  The new In Colors and the Fresh Vintage Stamp Set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog are a perfect match.

I {Heart} Hearts

It's been a hectic couple of days so I've not been at the craft table much.  Today is proving to be another very busy one and to add to the mix, I've invited guests for supper tonight.  Now I need to get to the grocery store for what I need that I don't have on hand.  Chili and johnny cake are on the menu and it will sure taste good on this frigid Iowa day!

So, I'm going to keep this short and sweet.  The card I'm sharing today is one I designed for my very first Workshop.  I got a little daring and thought I'd show them my stuff by making a tri-fold card.  Everyone had a fun time making it.

Stamp Set: I {Heart} Hearts; Ink:  Real Red; Card Stock:  Real Red, Whisper White, Brights Designer Series Paper; Accessories:  Big Shot, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stamping Sponge

Some got very creative with their version and the laughter reigned supreme all through the Workshop.  With Sale-A-Bration just around the corner, you'll want to be sure to schedule your own soon.  Contact me for all the great benefits of being a hostess.

Be Mine

As promised, here is the card I made using the new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies.  You can find it on page six of the new Occasions Mini Catalog.  I used one of the Heart Framelits to cut a heart in the center of the card so it would frame the heart with the figures which is actually attached to the inside of the card.  I've included both outside and inside photos of the card and I hope it gives you the idea of what I did.  When you close the card, the center heart is framed with Dazzling Details.

Stamp Sets:  Take It To Heart, You Are Loved, Outlined Occasions; Inks: Night of Navy, Real Red; Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Very Vanilla; Accessories:  Hearts Collection Framelits, Dazzling Details, Jewels Basic Rhinestones, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Oval Punch, Stamping Sponge

Another new Framelits Dies is the Labels Collection.  I've not had a chance to play with them yet, but I think it's about time.

So Saffron Flower

Today's card was inspired by one I saw while browsing cards online.  I was looking for ways to use the new Blossom Punch from the Occasions Mini Catalog and this flower is similar to the one I saw.  I punched out three blossoms then, cut them apart to make petals.  I used my So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker to add the lines on the center of each petal.  For the center of the flower, I used the 1/2" Circle Punch and covered it with Crystal Effects and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over it while still wet.

Stamp Set:  Word Play; Inks:  Soft Suede, Stampin' Write Marker So Saffron; Card Stock:  So Saffron, Whisper White, Attic Boutique; Accessories:  Modern Label Punch, Large Oval Punch, Blossom Punch, Jewels Basic Pearls, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin' Dimensionals

I''m loving the new product in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  Tomorrow I'll show you another card made with the new Hearts Collection Framelits. You're going to love them!

Packed For Mom

The Packed For Mom Stamp Set is one I received free for participating in our Worldwide Book-A-Thon.  It has a lot of elements to it and I decided to watercolor only a few of them.  It was a fun card to make.

The background was done using Glossy White Card Stock and waxed paper.  It's called the wax paper resist technique.  I like the image it produced and will certainly use the technique again.  I'm also going to teach it in my February Techniques Thursday class.

Stamp Sets:  Packed For Mom, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Marina Mist, Black StazOn, Real Red, Crumb Cake; Stampin' Write Markers in Soft Suede, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight; Card Stock:  Bashful Blue, Watercolor Paper, Glossy White, Love Patterns Designer Series Paper; Accessories:  5/8" Whisper White Organza Ribbon colored with Crumb Cake Ink using a Brayer, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, waxed paper, Stampin' Dimensionals, jewels Basic Rhinestones

Packed For Mom is found on page 39 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.  It can be bought separately or as part of the Packed for Everything Stamp Bundle.

Fresh Vintage

The Fresh Vintage Stamp Set is one of my favorites from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  It will be available January 24th.  For every $50 you spend, you can choose a free product from the catalog.  I say that is just fantastic!

Although it is hard to see in the photo, the background on the left side of the card is one I made using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to make a grid.  Then, stamped the cross points with the stamps from the Fresh Vintage Stamp Set.  I love the way the Pool Party and Soft Suede colors look together.

Stamp Set:  Fresh Vintage; Inks:  Pool Party, Soft Suede; Card Stock:  Pool Party, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper; Accessories:  1/2" Pool Party Seam Binding, Jewels Basic Pearls, Simply Scored Scoring Tool

Tomorrow's card will feature one of the sets from our Occasions Mini Catalog.  So, be sure to check back.

Daring Adventure Graduation

With this week so full of birthdays, I needed a short break from birthday cards so I decided to create a graduation card.  I know, it's only January, but it never hurts to think ahead. Daring Adventure jumped out at me and said, "use me!"  It's found on page 145 in the Idea Book & Catalog.  It quotes one of those people I most admire, Helen Keller.  She overcame great obstacles and what better way to let your graduate know that a whole new world awaits them.

Stamp Sets:  Daring Adventure, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Ink:  Soft Suede; Card Stock:  Naturals White, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper, Calypso Coral, Soft Suede; Accessories:  Boho Blossoms Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, Jewels Basic Pearls, White Baker's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals

The quote from Helen Keller, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing," is stamped on the inside of the card.  Because I hand stitched the zigzag on the front of the card, the ugly part of the stitching was visible when the card was opened.  To cover it up, I attached a matching piece of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Now it's on to more Valentine cards.  I have some really cute 3 x 3 cards I'm making and I'll share those at a later time.

Until we meet again...

Marina Mist Birthday

To round out a full week, here is the last birthday card made for my grandson, Gage.  He is fourteen today.  I had the privilege of being there the day he was born.  His dad, my oldest son Wayne, was in the Army at the time and away from home.  I was talking to him on the phone when we both heard Gage cry for the very first time!  I could hear the tears and joy in Wayne's voice.  It was a happy time.

Stamp Sets:  Word Play, Take It To Heart, Happy Birthday; Inks:  Soft Suede, Marina Mist; Card Stock:  Marina Mist, Attic Boutique, Glossy White, Whisper White; Accessories:  1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Gage's and Rodney's are the same but with a different combination of colors.  I had card stock left over after using the Wax Paper Resist Technique.  It's a neat technique and it worked well for masculine cards.

And, there you have all of the birthdays in just this one short week.

Until we meet again...

Big Wish Birthday

Today is a very special day.  It is my oldest grandson's birthday.  Rodney is now twenty-one years old.  I just keep asking myself, "Where did the time go?"  I remember him as such a happy little guy.  I have pictures of him with his chubby cheeks and big smile.  He has one of those smiles that is catching and you just have to smile along with him.

Stamp Sets:  Take It To Heart, Word Play, Happy Birthday; Inks:  Marina Mist, Soft Suede; Card Stock:  Soft Suede, Well Worn Designer Series Paper, Glossy White, Whisper White; Accessories: 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Happy 21st Birthday, Rodney.

A Week Full Of Birthdays

For the last two days, I've been working on birthday cards for three of my grandsons.  Their birthdays follow one right after the other.  A tradition I started a few years ago, was to take the birthday boy or girl out to dinner at a real, sit down restaurant of their choice.  Since I don't eat fast food, I don't allow that as an option.  :-)  After dinner, we go shopping.  I let them pick out their own gift.  That's right!  There is method to that madness.  By doing so, I know it is something that they want and will like.  For those grandchildren who live in other states, I just send them a check and they get to spend it on something they want.  So far, it has worked out well.

So, for today's post, I'm sharing Devin's card.  His birthday is today and he is now eleven.  If all goes well, he will spend Friday night with me and I'll take him out to dinner and a movie.  On Saturday, we'll go gift shopping before I take him home.  I'm really looking forward to it!

Stamp Sets:  Outlined Occasions, Swirls & Curls Verses (retired); Ink:  Soft Suede; Card Stock:  Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper, Glossy White, Red Glimmer Paper, Whisper White; Accessories:  Big Shot, Peekaboo Frames Bigz L Die, Hearts Collection Framelits, Vanilla Scented Stampin' Emboss Powder, Embossing Buddy, waxed paper, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

Devin is my on his way to computer guru and a game player.  Put him in front of a video game and he will play it for hours.  It will be interesting to see what he selects for his gift.

Until we meet again...

Hello Blossom

The Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper looks great with Soft Suede Card Stock.  It really sets off the new In Colors of Pool Party and Calypso Coral.  This card is a clean and simple one and is smaller than what I usually make.  It is a 5" x 5" card.  It was a way to use up some larger scraps of card stock and was just a fun little project.  The little tag is made using the Decorative Label Punch and just placing the card stock in such a way as to change the size of it.  It was shown in a video by France Martin.  I think it is a clever use of the punch.

Stamp Set: Tiny Tags; Ink:  Soft Suede; Card Stock:  Naturals White, Soft Suede, Pool Party, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper; Accessories:  Blossom Punch, Decorative Label Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Natural Hemp Twine, Calypso Coral Designer Printed Brad, Stampin' Dimensionals, Dazzling Details

Let me show you how much fun it is to make this card.  Schedule your Workshop today.

It's Ron, My Schwan's Delivery Man's Birthday

Well, technically it was Sunday, January 8th, but I don't see him again until this Friday and being who I am, I didn't get it done before the date so he will get it Friday.  I also found a cute little truck template and am going to make him a truck and decorate it like his delivery truck.  I know he likes chocolate so I'm thinking a few Hershey's nuggets will be tucked inside, too!

Stamp Sets:  Motorcycle (retired), Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Jet Black StazOn,  Night of Navy; Card Stock:  Not Quite Navy, Well Worn Designer Series Paper, Watercolor Paper, Cajun Craze; Accessories:  Blender Pen, Mini Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals, Ticket Corner Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

I love this Motorcycle stamp and I want to thank Buffy for sharing it with me.  Every time I use it, I get a lot of compliments.  Sigh... one of these days I'm going to have to send it back to her.

So, let me know what you think.  If you like it and leave a comment and if you e-mail me with your name and mailing address, I'll make you your very own Motorcycle card and send it off to you!  A comment, an e-mail and a card.  It doesn't get any easier than that!

Until we meet again...
