The Wacky Watercooler May "Retirement Blues" Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to our current blog hop!  This time around we are saying goodbye to some of our favorites but we wanted to share them with you one last time before they are gone.  The retiring list has arrived and there are so many things I am going to miss but, as you know, our new Stampin' Up!® 2015-2016 Annual Catalog will be out on June 2.  Yes, you are going to love it!

And, just a note, in the product list I made for each project, I've noted whether it is retiring or can be found in the Clearance Rack.

My original plan was to make all of my projects in shades of blue but I just couldn't do it.  The 2013-2015 In Colors that are retiring were just too hard to overlook.  I did keep it to shades of blue for my first card.  One of my favorite stamp sets is the Bloom with Hope.  It's one of the current hostess sets and I'm really going to miss it.  I've used it for many projects.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope (retiring), Label Love (retiring), Work of Art; Inks:  Night of Navy, Soft Sky; Card Stock:  Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack (retiring), Night of Navy, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Artisan Label Punch (retiring), 3/8" Lost Lagoon Silky Taffeta Ribbon (clearance rack), Pearls Basic Jewels, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer

For my next project, I got a little bent out of shape.  I bent the front of the card over and added the square of color with the flower and pretty paper.  This time I stayed with mostly retiring In Colors and inks.  Saying goodbye to that Baked Brown Sugar is going to be so very hard.  And, the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set with all of it's neat flowers.  Sigh...

Stamp Sets:  Four You (retiring), Petal Potpourri (retiring); Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar (retiring), Strawberry Slush (retiring); Card Stock:  All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack (retiring), Strawberry Slush (retiring), Very Vanilla; Accessories & Tools:  Flower Medallion Punch, Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker's Twine (retiring), Pearl Basic Jewels, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Stampin' Trimmer

My last project is a tribute to all the retiring products from the current 2014-2015 Annual Catalog.  The flowers were made using the Boho Blossom Punch, which is retiring this year, too.  I punched out a bunch, then layered them and added a pearl accent to the center of each flower.  For a sneak peek of the new Boho Chic Embossing Folder makes up the Pool Party Core'dinations layer against the Baked Brown Sugar card base.

Stamp Sets:  Four Frames (retiring), Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar (retiring), Coastal Cabana (retiring), Crisp Cantaloupe (retiring), Pool Party Core'dinations (clearance rack), Wild Wasabi; Accessories & Tools:  Boho Blossoms Punch (retiring), Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine (retiring), Boho Chic Embossing Folder (sneak peek), Pearl Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer

  1. Marsha I chose Bloom with Hope as well. It was a favourite all year through and I've used it for many happy and sad occasions cards. I love the combo of the Moonlight DSP and the Navy and Whisper White. Beautiful. I've never heard of a "bent" card before so this is something I'm going to have to try. I really like your last card too............ Boho Blossoms is such a great punch. Sad to see it go.

  3. Amazing that we used the same folded corner, Marsha! I love your take on it. I didn't realize that Boho Blossom punch was retiring; I guess I'm in denial. Fabulous cards, Marsha; thanks for sharing

    1. Thanks, Deborah, I saw we did that same corner fold. Great minds, right? I'm in denial for a lot of the punches and dies I'm losing. That's where I got hit the hardest.

  4. Love all of your cards so much. I noticed you sneaked that new embossing folder in there. I have an idea for a faux leather card using it.
I just recently got Bloom with Hope and wish I had done it sooner. You did a beautiful job with that card.
Your Boho Blossoms punch card uses my wedding colors so I am partial to that card.
I am sad to see all the elements in your All Abloom card go. I have to try that fold, beautiful card.

  5. Beautiful cards, Marsha! I love your Bloom with Hope/Work of Art. At first glance, I thought it was one of the new sets. Love your "bent out of shape" card and all the flowers.

  6. Hi Marsha, thanks so much for continuing to be part of this wonderful Blog Hop. I love the blue mood of the first card. Using the Work of Art behind the flower image is perfect. The borders of Moonlight DSP finish it off so well. I'm glad the Flower Medallion punch wasn't among the retiring "casualties" but will miss the matching Petal Potpourri stamp set. You've set it up beautifully to take centre stage on your "bent" card. Love, love, love the goodbye you've given to the Boho Blossoms punch. That's a punch that will definitely be missed. I can't remember being without it since I've joined Stampin' Up! Isn't it funny that the new background embossing folder shares it's name? Great card!

    1. Thanks, Heidi, for leaving such a lovely comment. My punches and dies is where I took the biggest hit with retiring product. So many favorites but, I have to admit, lots of new stuff has caught my eye.

  7. I really enjoyed your beautiful creations. Love the way you used Work of Art in the first card - it made it very interesting. I notice several cards using the corner fold template - I need to give that fold a try. Your bouquet of flowers is done very nicely (thanks for sharing the new embossing folder!)

    1. Thanks, Marie! The corner fold can be done is a few ways. I've seen some that fold it over not quite as much as I did. It was a fun card.
