Wacky Watercooler August Blog Hop

Welcome to the Wacky Watercooler August Blog Hop!  Each month, on the third Thursday of the month, a group of us get together to hop and share projects from Stampin' Up!'s current catalogs.  It's always a lot of fun.  This month we're Stepping it up:  One, Two, Three!  We are taking the same card and showing you how to take it from a simple design to one with all the bells and whistles.

It's my privilege to start off our Hop.  I've been having so much fun creating with the Paisleys & Posies Stamp Set and the Paisley Framelits Dies that I wanted to give you a sneak peek.  It is a new bundle from the upcoming 2016 Holiday Catalog that launches on September 1st.

As always, our Blog Hop runs in a circle.  Whether you start at the top and go forward or start at the bottom and go backward, you will always wind up where you started.

You should be coming to my blog from Penny Hanuszak.  Weren't her projects great!  After your visit with me, head on over to Gail Allen and her wonderful projects.

For my first card, all I did was stamping.  The center is a square layer with a design stamped on it and a rhinestone just to fill in the center of the card.  Very basic and very simple.

Stamp Set:  Paisleys & Posies; Ink:  Dapper Denim; Cardstock:  Whisper White; Other:  Rhinestone Basic Jewels

My second card is a stepped up version of the first one.  I added more layers and some twine.

Stamp Set:  Paisleys & Posies; Ink:  Dapper Denim, Whisper White Craft; Cardstock:  2016-2018 In color Designer Series Paper Stack, Dapper Denim, Night of Navy, Whisper White; Other:  Triple Banner Punch, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

My cards were inspired by one done by Debbie Mageed.  This third version used die-cuts and lots of layers.  While the first two used different images, the die-cuts give a special look all their own.  I had intended to use the came stamp but the die-cut I used doesn't have a stamp to go with it so it's simply the die-cute.  I really like the way this one turned out.

  1. Marsha, I love the way you started with just stamping your card and moved it up as you went. The Paisleys & Posies bundle is on my wish list so I was so happy to see some ideas for me to CASE. You did a wonderful job with the DSP!

  4. Marsha, your blue & white colour combo is just classic! Reminds me of the Blue Willow china pattern. Love how you've used this set and combined the DSP patterns.

    1. That's exactly right, Gail. That's what Marsha's cards made me think of, the Blue Willow china. No wonder they appealed to me so much.

    2. Thanks, Gail! I didn't even think of the china pattern but it is a favorite of mine. Well, let's face it, anything blue is a favorite of mine.

  5. Beautiful, Marsha! That Paisleys & Posies set really looks stunning stamped in the Dapper Denim against the Whisper White. I love the way you've kept the two colours in all three cards. The In-Colors paper stack works beautifully with the design and as your background. You've confirmed what I suspected all along: I need that bundle. Great cards!

  7. Well I must say Marsha you're rocking that Paisley's and Posies stamp set. Three more beautiful cards and each one is perfect in it's own way. This blue and white design made me think not of the willow dish pattern, but of the paisley designed kerchief or hankies they sell in western wear shops. Thanks for inspiring.

    1. Thanks, Penny! I didn't know that I would like it so well but it does have my attention of late. Oh, I had forgotten about those kerchiefs.
