The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - What about Christmas

Hi everyone!  It's time for another challenge from The Sisterhood of Crafters.  This week Agata is our host and it's an all about Christmas challenge.  Christmas is my favorite holiday and, while I don't really get into the spirit until after Thanksgiving, I do make my Christmas cards throughout the year just to have them all done by the time I need to send them in the mail.

For my card, I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) a design by Pam Sparks.  You can see her card HERE.  Thanks, Pam, for the inspiration.

I love the Holiday Florals stamp set and matching dies from Taylored Expressions.  As you can see I did make a few changes.  Instead of stamping the wood grain background, I used patterned paper.  I changed the plaid embossing folder to a brick one for the red layer.  I also opted not to hear emboss on vellum as I didn't have any heavy enough to withstand the heat without scorching or curling.  Instead, I took a scrap of Sugar Cube, stamped VersaMark ink on it, added Copper Embossing Powder and once the powder was set, I cut out the word joy.  I wasn't sure it would go through the Big Shot and not crack but it worked perfectly.  And, rather than sequins, I colored some rhinestones with a Copic marker for the centers of my poinsettias.  And, I added a bit of a sprig on the lower right.  What can I say?  I stamped it, cut it and couldn't just leave it lay.

Stamp Set:  Holiday Florals; Inks:  Chocolate Chip, Pea Pod, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Vintage Photo; Copic Sketch Marker:  Y19 Napoli Yellow; Cardstock:  Always Artichoke, Real Red, Sugar Cube; Patterned Paper:  Playful Patterns - Harvest Paper Pack (Taylored Expressions); Other:  Brick Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), Copper Embossing Powder, Holiday Florals Dies (Taylored Expressions), Joy Die (Taylored Expressions), Rhinestone Basic Jewels
