Thinking of You

It's been a long and busy birthday day for me so I'm keeping my post short.  Just wanted to share another of the cards I made using the Clarity Stencil Brushes.  I have totally fallen in love with these brushes.  They make blending colors so easy.

I'm entering my card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  The theme this week is "Anything Goes".

Happy Birthday

Since my birthday is tomorrow, I treated myself to a class at Taylored Expressions this afternoon.  It was all about using the Clarity Stencil Brushes.  It was one of the best classes I've attended in quite some time.  I tell you, I am so thrilled with the way you can blend with them that I recommend everyone getting their own set.  There are so many ideas floating around in my head that I can't wait to get started on some new projects.

Since the colors fit the challenge so well, I've entered my card in this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.  The two inks used on the card are Cookie Monster and Lemon Meringue.  When they blended together, the green line was formed.  The sentiment is a single stamp called Graphic Greetings Birthday and stamped using Oreo Cookie ink.  The candles and flames were die-cuts that were attached to the layer, colored over and then removed to leave the white candles on the card.

You're in My Thoughts

Some much to do and so little time in which to do it.  My post is short and sweet today but I wanted to share this pretty card I made for The Paper Players Challenge and the Sunday Stamps Challenge.  My Wink of Stella Brush kind of sprung a leak so there is plenty of shimmer on the flower.

Stamp Set:  Rose Wonder (sentiment); Ink:  Elegant Eggplant; Cardstock:  Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Whisper White Thick; Patterned Paper:  Rainbow Brights 6x6 Paper Pad (Taylored Expressions); Other:  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Pansy Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Enamel Dots, Clear Wink of Stella Brush

Black & White Sympathy

The background in the graphic for the sketch at the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge, had me pulling out my Crimper which I so rarely use these days.  I crimped the Whisper White layer then, crumpled it up every which way I could and came up with a crinkly look to the layer.  Oh, before I did all that, I stamped an image from the Timeless Textures stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Then, I attached it to a card base of Basic Black cardstock.  The sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink as is the outline around it.  I used the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies to cut out the sentiment label.  I decided to not add any embellishments at this time.  I may do so later when I use the card and then again, I may not.

Watercolor Roses

What?  No dies!?  That's the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.  What do you do when you can't use die cuts?  Well, I watercolor.

First, I stamped the image from the Wild Roses stamp set onto Watercolor Paper using VersaMark, then heat embossed using White Embossing Powder.  I colored the roses and the leaves using the Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Watercolor Pencils.  The background is a wash of Pear Pizzazz.  The sentiment is from the Jar of Love stamp set and stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Then, I added it to a layer of Elegant Eggplant and added a bow made of Linen Thread

Butterfly Thank You

When I saw the simplicity of the sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the bright colors from the Color Throwdown challenge, I knew the combination of the two was going to cheer me up this dreary, rainy day.  I must say it did!  And, it was a given that I'd use butterflies.

The Tempting Turquoise layer was first stamped with VersaMark using the spatters from the Avant Garden stamp set.  I added it to a card base of Whisper White Thick cardstock.  I punched the larger butterfly from Tangerine Tango and Vellum using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Then, I punched the small butterfly from Daffodil Delight and Vellum using the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  I adhered the Vellum butterflies onto the same size colored ones and added a few Pearl Basic Jewels to cover the line of glue you could see through the Vellum. The sentiment is from the Rose Garden stamp set and stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #111 - Marsha's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

You know, just because it's a masculine card doesn't mean you have to use blacks and browns and blues and trees and cars and other seemingly appropriate manly colors or images.

For Jean's Masculine "Anything Goes" challenge, this card has color and cute little critters to let someone know you love them.  Now, I ask, just how cute are those hedgehogs?

Stamp Sets:  In the Meadow, Jar of Love, Kinda Eclectic, Love You Lots; Inks:  Basic Black Archival, Early Espresso, Real Red, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi; Cardstock;  Shimmery White, Soft Suede, Whisper White Thick; Other:  Fancy Frost Sequins

Pretty Spring Flowers

Flowers have always been a sign of Spring for me.  They peek their heads up out of the ground looking for sunshine and warm weather.  With the strange winter we've had here, I'm not sure they know what to do.  I'm just hoping that they don't get too chilly as this March weather tries to make up its mind.

Anyway, I used the Butterfly Basics stamp set, first introduced in the 2015 Occasions Catalog, and colored the image with Watercolor Pencils.  I think those Pacific Point flowers are so pretty.  But, give me anything blue and I'm happy.  I love the way Rich Razzleberry and Pacific Point look together.  I colored the pearls with Pacific Point but they came out looking lighter than the flowers.

Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics; Ink:  Basic Black Archival; Watercolor Pencils:  Old Olive, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry; Cardstock:  Rich Razzleberry, Shimmery White, Whisper White Thick; Other:  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Pearl Basic Jewels

Hello Baby

It isn't often that I can combine three of my favorite challenges and come up with a sweet little card.  But, Just Us Girls, CAS(E) this Sketch and The Paper Players challenges worked very well together.

Another thing I don't often do is make baby cards.  I'm not sure why because I loved creating this one.

Stamp Sets:  Something for Baby, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Elegant Eggplant, Smoky Slate, Strawberry Milkshake (Taylored Expressions); Cardstock:  Whisper White, Whisper White Thick; Patterned Paper:  Rainbow Brights 6x6 Pad (Taylored Expressions); Other:  Baby's First Framelits Dies, Boho Chic Embossing Folder, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Thinking of You

Just a quick post today.  I've decided to take a break and do a Sunday marathon of Downton Abbey.  But, I wanted to share this card I made to send to one of my sons.  I try to get cards made and sent to all of my kids and grandkids.  Now that they all live out west it's even more important to me to send those cards.

Stamps Sets:  Gorgeous Grunge, Hardwood, Sheltering Tree (sentiment), Sprinkles of Life; Inks:  Chocolate Chip, Cucumber Crush, Early Espresso, Real Red, Soft Suede; Cardstock:  Soft Suede, Very Vanilla; Other:  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Tree Builder Punch

Wacky Watercooler March Blog Hop

Welcome to our March Sale-A-Braion Blog Hop.  Each month, on the third Thursday of the month, a group of us get together to hop and share projects from Stampin' Up!'s current catalogs.  It's always a lot of fun.  Today's hop is all about the Sale-A-Bration BrochureSale-A-Bration ends on March 31st so if you have your eye on one of the products, now would be a good time to get that $50 order in to get your free item.

You should be coming to my blog from Heidi Weaver.  After your visit with me, you'll head on over to Marie Green.  And, as always, our Hop runs in a circle.  Whether you start at the top and go forward or start at the bottom and go backward, you will always wind up where you started.

All three of the projects I've made feature just one of the Sale-A-Bration stamps sets.  It's the Avant Garden Stamp set and I just love it!

The inspiration for my first card came from Jo Anne Hewins.  You can see her card HERE.  While I used the Elegant Eggplant as she did, I used Emerald Envy for my green and the Triple Banner Punch for the sentiment.  What I liked most about the card is making my own patterned paper using one of the stamps from Avant Garden.

Stamp Set:  Avant Garden; Ink:  Elegant Eggplant:  Stampin' Write Markers:  Elegant Eggplant, Emerald Envy; Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White; Other:  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Triple Banner Punch, Linen Thread

My second project is all blues and yellow.  I hadn't used Dapper Denim and Marina Mist together before but they played well together.

Stamp Set:  Avant Garden; Inks:  Dapper Denim, Marina Mist, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi; Cardstock:  Marina Mist, So Saffron, Whisper White, Whisper White Thick; Other:  Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Orange Wink of Stella Brush

My final project is a CASE (Copy And Share Everything) of a card done by Melissa Kerman.  I couldn't find the a link to her blog so I can't direct you to her card.  I made a few changes to my design since I love butterflies.

Stamp Sets:  Avant Garden, Butterfly Basics, Papillon Potpourri, Timeless Textures; Inks:  Always Artichoke, Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry; Cardstock:  Chocolate Chip, Tip Top Taupe, Very Vanilla; Other:  Bitty Butterfly Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels

That is all from me.  The next stop on your tour is Marie Green.  She always has such great projects.  To see her wonderful projects, click the image below.

Stamp Set:  Crazy about You; Inks:  Pacific Point, So Saffron, Smoky Slate, Tuxedo Black Memento; Stampin' Write Marker:  Pink Pirouette; Cardstock:  Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Whisper White, Whisper White Thick; Other:  Hippity Hop Dies (Taylored Expressions), Pocket Die (Taylored Expressions), Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate (Taylored Expressions), Pearl Basic Jewels, Whisper White Baker's Twine

Pocketful of Flowers

The past couples of days have found me with no inclination to do any crafting but today I finally sat down and made some bright flowers to cheer me up.  It did.  I've not used the Jar of Love set for a while and I like the way one color of ink can look different when you stamp it off.  The bow on the pocket is actually cut from Elegant Eggplant cardstock but I coated it with some Texture Gems and it darkened the color.

Stamp Sets:  Avant Garden (sentiment), Jar of Love; Inks:  Crushed Curry, Elegant Eggplant, Smoky Slate; Cardstock:  Elegant Eggplant, Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Whisper White Thick;  Patterned Paper:  Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack; Other:  Everyday Jars Framelits Dies, Scallop Border Punch, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Texture Gems (Faber-Castell), Clear Wink of Stella Brush

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #109

It's a color challenge this week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges and our host, Heidi, has chosen a great combination of colors.

My card base is Basic Black as is the layer that I added images stamped in Whisper White Craft ink from the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set onto Whisper White using Basic Black Archival ink, then punched it out using the Decorative Label Punch.  The Pool Party butterflies were cut using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  I've not used that in a while and had forgotten just how nice those butterflies look.  The Island Indigo butterflies were punched using the Bitty Butterfly Punch and the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

Before attaching the label and all the butterflies, I added a piece of 1/4" Island Indigo Ribbon to the bottom of the stamped layer.  I randomly glued the butterflies in place and added Pearl Basic Jewels to the center of each butterfly.  The label was popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.

One thing I should share with you is that I used Whisper White instead of the Very Vanilla as stated on the graphic.  When looking at the graphic, I saw white and used white.  I didn't do a very good job of reading the colors, did I?

Bunny Lineup

What fun it was to make these colorful, cheerful bunnies.  It's snowing here today so they are definitely the bright spot in my day.  And, because, I designed this for the Retro Rubber Challenge, my stamp set had to be a year older or older.  Crazy about You fits the bill as it was introduced in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  It's a great sentiment stamp set.

Stamp Set:  Crazy about You (2015 Occasions Catalog); Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Cardstock:  Daffodil Delight, Emerald Envy, Pacific Point, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White Thick; Other:  Hippity Hop Dies (Taylored Expressions), Emerald Envy Thick Baker's Twine, Itty Bitty Epoxy Stickers (retired)

The inspiration for my card came from the Retro Rubber Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #108

It's Wednesday and that means a new challenge at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This week Gail is hosting a sketch challenge and she has picked a good one.

To start, I stamped spatter images from the Avant Garden stamp set onto a Whisper White card base using Strawberry Milkshake ink.  Then, I added a piece of Rainbow Brights Patterned Paper to the card base.  Using the Postage Stamp Stacklets Dies, I cut a layer from Whisper White and stamped the word birthday from the Wish Big Stamp & Die Combo at the bottom.  On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the word happy from the Wish Big Stamp & Die Combo using Strawberry Milkshake ink then, cut it out.  The postage stamp layer and the word happy were popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The Strawberry Milkshake ink, Rainbow Brights Patterned Paper, Postage Stamp Stacklets Dies and the Wish Big Stamp & Die Combo are all from Taylored Expressions.  All other product is from Stampin' Up
