Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #155 - "Anything Goes" Challenge

Having been hit with some kind of bug over the weekend, I decided to keep my card quick and simple for the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  It's an anything goes, so you have plenty of leeway to show off your creativity.

I took a card base of Sugar Cube I added a layer of Night of Navy and embossed the pretty from from the Amazing You stamp set using Copper Embossing Powder.  I love how the copper looks on the navy.  Then, I added some iridescent sequins that really do change color in the light.  It's just not possible to show that in a photo.  And that, as they say, is that.

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #257

Fun!  Fun!  Fun!  It's the fifth Tuesday of the month so we have a double challenge for you at CAS Colours & Sketches.  It's where we combine colors and a sketch.  Be sure to visit the blog to see the Design Team's wonderful inspiration.

As you can see I've made the one layer bigger than in the sketch.  It was kind of unintentional but I stayed with it as I've been ill for the past several days and my poor brain was not processing anything well.  I did mange to use the right colors for the inks I used but I think the flowers are a bit different than the actual Coastal Cabana color.  Sigh...

It was fun to bring out the Clarity Brushes again as I've not used them in a while.  I layered the Coastal Cabana, Peekaboo Peach (in place of the Apricot Appeal) and Certainly Celery (I had the Stampin' Write Marker) inks to make my background.  I embossed that with the Splatter Embossing Folder from Taylored Expressions.  The sentiment was stamped using Coastal Cabana.  The flowers were punched using the Petite Petals Punch.  I added a pearl to the center of each flower.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #154 - Judy's "All About Christmas" Challenge

Wednesday is back and it's time for a new Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This week Judy is hosting our "All About Christmas" Challenge.  I love that we have a Christmas challenge in our lineup.  By the time Christmas comes around, I have most of the cards I need done for the year and all I have to do is get them ready to mail.  One of my hassle free Christmas projects.

For today's card, I played with the new Barn Door stamp set and Sliding Door Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up!  I have developed a thing for slider cards and this one was fun to put together.  I must admit that there was a bit of a learning curve and certain things I'll do differently when I make my next one.

Stamp Sets:  Barn Door, Christmas Magic, Holiday; Inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Poppy Seed; Cardstock:  Cherry Cobbler, Emerald Envy, Mint Macaron, Sugar Cube; Dies:  Evergreens Dies (Taylored Expressions), Sliding Door Framelits Dies (Stampin' Up!); Other:  Weathered Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), On The Right Track Discs (Taylored Expressions), Foam Adhesive Strips, Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops

The Sisterhood of Crafters - Dashing through the Snow

Hi everyone!  It's time for another challenge from The Sisterhood of Crafters.  This week I'm excited to be your host.  With winter still upon many of us, I thought it would be fun to play in the snow.  It can be a snowman, a snow angel or a wintry scene.  Your challenge is to use snow on your project.

The Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions) card front was embossed using using the Snow Flurries Embossing Folder.  The snowman was embossed on Sugar Cube cardstock, then I fussy cut it out so I could pop it up with Scotch Foam Tape on the front of the card.  After cutting it out, I used a Clear Wink of Stella Brush to give the snowman some sparkle.  Unfortunately, the brush sprang a leak and you can see that in the middle part of the snowman it looks darker.  In real life, it doesn't look bad but the photo makes it look different.  For the hat and his arms, I used a Black Wink of Stella Brush and for the carrot nose I used an Orange Wink of Stella Brush.

The scarf was stamped on Sugar Cube cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with R27 (Cadimum Red) and YG17 (Grass Green) Copic Markers.  It's from the Penguins Stamp & Die Set by Hampton Art.  I fussy cut it out then, added it to the snowman using Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

The sentiment is from Compliments of the Season stamp set by Waltzing Mouse and stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I used an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up! and popped it up with foam tape.  The finishing touch was adding a coal black eye using the Black Wink of Stella Brush

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #256

It's sketch week at CAS Colours & Sketches and the Design Team has some wonderful inspiration to get you started.

It took a bit of thinking to decide how I wanted to use the sketch.  I tend to forget that you don't necessarily have to punch or die-cut the shapes that are part of the sketch.  You can actually just stamp them.  What a revelation! ☺

To a Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions) card base I added a layer of Cookie Monster (Taylored Expressions) cardstock .  Then, I stamped the sun from the retired Kinda Eclectic stamp set by Stampin' Up! onto Sugar Cube cardstock using Lemon Meringue ink (Taylored Expressions) and added it to the layer of Cookie Monster cardstock.

On a scrap of Sugar Cube, I stamped the sentiment from Sunshine Sayings (Stampin' Up!) using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I popped it up using Scotch Foam Tape.  The word sunshine was cut from a piece of Basic Black (Stampin' Up!) cardstock using the Sunshine Wishes Dies by Stampin' Up!  I attached it to the card using Tombow Multipurpose Glue.  For the finishing touch, I added Cookie Monster Enamel Dots (Taylored Expressions).

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #248

Hello and welcome to another sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Today's sketch said it was perfect for a thank you card, of which I need quite a few.  I'm behind in sending out cards to family and friends who helped me through my recent surgery.  And, it was perfect for the color challenge over at the Color Throwdown Challenge.

To follow the colors of the challenge, I used Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up!), Soft Sky (Stampin' Up!) and Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions) cardstock.  It's a Crumb Cake base with a layer of Sugar Cube and I followed through with it for the squares cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (Stampin' Up!)  The flowers and the little sprig, were cut out of Crumb Cake and Soft Sky cardstock using the Bloomers 4 Dies (Taylored Expressions) and the Flower Box Sprigs & Flowers Dies (Taylored Expressions).  The sentiment is a stamp I received from Taylored Expressions as a thank you when I placed an order.  It was the perfect size for the area available to stamp.  And, for the finishing touches, I added some Soft Sky Twine and blue sequins.

I'm very pleased with the way the sketch and the colors all came together to make such a clean and simple thank you card.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #153 - Gail's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Wednesday is back and that means it's time for a new Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This week Gail is hosting our Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Have you ever had one of those times when you were really glad when you finally managed to put a card together?  My crafting over the past couple of days has been a study in frustration.  After many false starts, here is the card I made for my grandson's birthday.  He'll be thirteen in a couple of weeks and all of these images remind me of him.

The card base is Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions) and I attached a piece of patterned paper to it but I can't remember from which paper pad as I've had it for a while.  On top of that I added a layer of Sugar Cube cardstock.  The images and sentiment are stamped from the Epic Celebrations (Stampin' Up!) stamp set using Bermuda Bay ink.  I fussy cut the sneakers, guitar and headset and attached them with Scotch Foam Tape.  The sentiment circle was cut from Sugar Cube cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (Stampin' Up!).  I attached the stitched circle to a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and fussy cut around it to give just a hint of the color.  Using the next largest circle die would have made it too big and I didn't want a large border of color.  I think he is going to like it!

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #255

This week at CAS Colours & Sketches we have a color challenge for you.  My sister has a birthday next month and she loves purple.  Perfect Plum and Wisteria Wonder fall into that color family and I used the Soft Sky as my accent.

The apron was die cut using the Apron Builder Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up!  The trim and ties are also part of the die set.  I stamped the sentiment from the Another Year Older stamp set by Taylored Expressions using Perfect Plum ink.  The layer under the apron was embossed using the retired Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!  The card base and embossed layer are Sugar Cube.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #152 - Kath's "All About Occasions" Challenge

Hi and Hello!  Wednesday has rolled around again and it's time for a new Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  This week Kath is hosting our "All About Occasions" Challenge.  It can be any occasion of your choosing so that leaves the playing field wide open.

For my design this week I, for the very first time, made a Corner Pop Up Card.  It was a rather fun project to make.  There are so many possibilities with what you can add to the card.  I had a few things already made up so I mixed and match to get the final look.  You can find a great video from Dawn Griffith HERE.

For the daisies, I used my Delightful Daisies stamp set and matching Delightful Daisy Dies from Heartfelt Creations.  I stamped the flowers and leaf in Basic Black Archival and sponged the daisies with Sweet Sugarplum.  The centers are Taylored Expressions Lemon Meringue ink.  The leaf Old Olive and Wild Wasabi.

The patterned paper I used is the retired Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!  I love that gingham check and, being that it's Sweet Sugarplum, it matched the daisies and card base perfectly.

The sentiment on the front of the card is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the one on the inside is from the retired Thankful Life stamp set.  Both are from Stampin' Up!  They were stamped using Taylored Expressions Poppy Seed ink.

The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - Frames

Hi everyone!  It's the first challenge of the new year from The Sisterhood of Crafters.  This week Diane is our host and she has challenged us to use frames in our designs.  Given the fact that I need several thank you cards, I pulled out one of my favorite dies and got to work.

First, I stamped the thank you sentiment in Blue Corn ink by Taylored Expressions.  It's from the So Very Much stamp set from Stampin' Up!  Then, I embossed the panel using the Brick Embossing Folder by Taylored Expressions.  From a pieced of patterned paper from the Playful Patterns - Savory Paper Pack from Taylored Expressions, I cut my frame using the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate, also from Taylored Expressions, and popped it up on foam tape to "frame" the thank you.  What you can't see are the few drops of Glossy Accents I added to the brick panel.  It's a very clean and simple design but I do love how that sentiment stands out.

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #254

Hello!  It's time for the first CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge of the new year.  I loved the clean and simple look of this sketch and knew it would make a cute slider card for one of my grandchildren.

I've been staying away from making slider cards as I mail most of the cards I made and using pennies or washers just added too much weight to the envelope.  But, that dilemma has been solved.  On the Right Track Discs are light weight plastic discs that make slider cards a breeze.  Here is the fun one I made using the Party Hat Dies from Taylored Expressions.

Stamp Sets:  Perfect Pairings, Timeless Treasures; Inks:  Daffodil Delight, Basic Black Archival; Cardstock:  Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Sugar Cube; Patterned Paper:  Rainbow Brights 6x6 Paper Pad (Taylored Expressions); Dies:  On the Right Track - Basics Dies (Taylored Expressions), Party Hat Dies (Taylored Expressions); Other:  Clear Wink of Stella Brush, On the Right Track Discs

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #246

Happy New Year and welcome back to this week's sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Getting back into the craft room and creative mode has been a struggle lately.  But I had fun with the sketch this week.  For my stripes, I used some retired washi tape I have on hand and the die-cut word is from the Sunshine Wishes Dies by Stampin' Up!  What I really like is that, although it's actually black, the Distress Oxide Black Soot ink is not nearly as dark as the plain Distress Ink one.  I mixed it with some water and flicked it onto the card from and it shows up more gray than black and matches the washi tape very well.

Stamp Set:  None; Ink:  Black Soot Distress Oxide; Cardstock:  Basic Black, Sugar Cube; Dies:  Sunshine Wishes Dies (Stampin' Up!); Other:  All Is Calm Washsi Tape

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Mythical Creatures

It's January and the first Saturday of the New Year.  That means it's time for our January challenge at Crafty Calendar.   The theme this month is all about Mythical Creatures; fairies and dragons and unicorns, oh my!  Our sponsors this month are A Day for Daisies and Wild Orchid Crafts.

The Fairy Swing digital image I used is from A Day for Daisies.  Isn't it just adorable!  It was printed on a piece of Shimmer White cardstock using my inkjet printer.  Before coloring the image, I let it dry overnight so the ink wouldn't bleed.  Once dry, I watercolored the image using Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils and added flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set by Stampin' Up!  Those were stamped in Marina Mist and cut out using the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up!  The sentiment is from the Garden Fairies stamps set by Flourishes.  It's retired but still one of my favorites.  What isn't showing up well are the shimmery wings of the fairy.  They were done using the Clear Wink of Stella Brush.  It is very hard to get that to photograph well.

For all the challenge details and to share your project at the Crafty Calendar Challenge, just click on our name.

Stamp Sets:  Fairy Swing Digital Image (A Day for Daisies), Garden Fairies - sentiment (Flourishes), Jar of Love - flowers; Inks:  Marina Mist, Tuxedo Black Memento; Watercolor Pencils:  Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Old Olive; Stampin' Write Marker:  Blush Blossom; Cardstock:  Shimmer White, Sugar Cube; Other:  Clear Wink of Stella Brush, Everyday Jars Framelits Dies (Stampin' Up!), Stitched Rectangle Stacklets Dies (Taylored Expressions)

Our sponsors for the month of January are A Day for Daisies and Wild Orchid Crafts.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #151 - Charlotte's Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Happy New Year!  Not many of you know I had surgery in late November and was not doing much in the way of creating for the next several weeks.  If it wasn't for being able to work ahead and schedule my blog posts before the surgery and recovery time, I would have been gone the whole month of December.  Now that I'm well on the way to full recovery, I'm looking forward to all that this new year holds.

This week Charlotte is hosting our Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge.   One of my favorite new dies from Taylored Expressions is the Display Easel Dies.  It is so easy to make these calendars using the dies.  In the coming, days I'll also show you some of the other ways you can use these dies.

Stamp Set:  Colorful Seasons; Ink:  Night of Navy; Cardstock:  Berry Burst; Dies:  Display Easel (Taylored Expressions); Patterned Paper:  Hello Happiness (Taylored Expressions) Other:  Pink Ribbon Rose
