Thinking of You

Today the sun is finally shining again and it does look a bit like spring here in the high desert of Nevada.  Flowers aren't quite blooming, yet, but I thought a bright, cheerful card was a good substitute.  Flowers that never fade.

This card does have a few layers to it.  I started by embossing the orange layerwith the Leaf Frame Cover Die.  On a piece of Whisper White, I stenciled the dots using Silver Lake ink.  Then, I glued them together and attached that double layer to a white card base.  The flowers are from the Wonderful Romance stamp set.  I stamped the outline in black and used colored pencils and gamsol to color them.  It's my favorite way to color these days.  For the finishing touch I added some iridescent bubbles that nicely reflect the color of the flowers.

Stamp Set:  Wonderful Romance (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Jet Black, Silver Lake (Altenew)
Pencils:  Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Tangerine Tango (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Wonderful Floral Framelets Dies (Stampin' Up!)
Other:  Leaf Frame Cover Die, Feeling Dotty Stencil (Altenew), Iridescent Bubbles (Studio Katia), Gamsol

The inspiration for my card came from the Festive Friday Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Festive Friday Element Challange

This week at the Festive Friday Challenge Blog, we are to create any holiday themed project that includes a Candy Cane element.  For all the details and to join in the challenge click on the link above or on the image below.

For this card, I decided to keep it clean and simple.  I wanted the focus to be on the candy cane.  I love the red and white with just a touch of green.  I used the Joyous Celebrations stamp set from Stampin' Up! for the sentiment.

Stamp Set:  Joyous Celebrations; Ink:  Real Red (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Classic White (Flourishes), Real Red (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  1-3/4" Circle Punch (Stampin' Up!) Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder, candy cane from Martha Stewart, white twine

Until next time. . . happy creating!

Festive Friday Snow Trigger Challenge

The challenge for us at the Festive Friday Challenge Blog was to create a project based on the word 'snow.'  When I think of snow, I think of Christmas and tree hunting.  As a young girl, it was always so much fun to go with the family to find the perfect tree.  Many times it would be snowing when we searched the timber.  Below is the inspiration given for the challenge.  You can click the link above or the image below to go right to Festive Friday for all the challenge details.

Here is the card I made with a soon-to-be Christmas tree waiting patiently in the snow to be taken home and decorated.

Stamp Sets:  Lovely As a Tree, Joy, Itty Bitty Backgrounds (all Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Whisper White Craft, Night of Navy (both Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Whisper White, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (all Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Snow Flurries Embossing Folder (Tim Holtz), Ticket Corner Punch, Rhinestone

Until next time . . . happy creating!
