The Sisterhood of Crafters - Dashing through the Snow

Hi everyone!  It's time for another challenge from The Sisterhood of Crafters.  This week I'm excited to be your host.  With winter still upon many of us, I thought it would be fun to play in the snow.  It can be a snowman, a snow angel or a wintry scene.  Your challenge is to use snow on your project.

The Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions) card front was embossed using using the Snow Flurries Embossing Folder.  The snowman was embossed on Sugar Cube cardstock, then I fussy cut it out so I could pop it up with Scotch Foam Tape on the front of the card.  After cutting it out, I used a Clear Wink of Stella Brush to give the snowman some sparkle.  Unfortunately, the brush sprang a leak and you can see that in the middle part of the snowman it looks darker.  In real life, it doesn't look bad but the photo makes it look different.  For the hat and his arms, I used a Black Wink of Stella Brush and for the carrot nose I used an Orange Wink of Stella Brush.

The scarf was stamped on Sugar Cube cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with R27 (Cadimum Red) and YG17 (Grass Green) Copic Markers.  It's from the Penguins Stamp & Die Set by Hampton Art.  I fussy cut it out then, added it to the snowman using Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

The sentiment is from Compliments of the Season stamp set by Waltzing Mouse and stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I used an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up! and popped it up with foam tape.  The finishing touch was adding a coal black eye using the Black Wink of Stella Brush

Let It Snow

One of my favorite challenges is the Retro Rubber Challenge.  It gives me the chance to use my older stamps that tend to get neglected as new ones are acquired.  Once again, blue is my preference for making a card all about snow.

My card base is Soft Sky with an embossed layer of Soft Sky.  The embossing folder used is Snow Flurries by Tim Holtz.  It's and older one, too.  I sprayed Radiant Rain Shimmering ICE Mist over the embossed layer and while it dried, I made the label.  The stamp set I used is the 2010 Complements of the Season by Waltzing Mouse.  I stamped the sentiment and snowflakes in Night of Navy onto Whisper White cardstock then, punched out the sentiment using the Decorative Label Punch.  Behind the label, I added a few strands of the Copper Metallic Thread.  Both the embossed layer and the label were attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

And, there you have it.  A clean and simple card all about snow.  I'm not sure those who live north of me will appreciate it as they are under weather advisories.  I'm not sure what is suppose to hit my area.  I'm hoping very little in the way of snow.  ☺

The theme I used is from the Retro Rubber Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #48

Heidi's challenge for us this week is an "Anything Goes With Snow."  With time at a premium, I decided to keep this one very simple.  I added a layer of Whisper White to the Real Red and stamped on the Sahara Sand layer.  A few enamel dots for a pop of color and it's all done.

This is our last challenge of 2015 but we'll be back come the New Year for another year of great challenges.

Stamp Sets:  Happy Scenes - sentiment, Perpetual Birthday Calendar - snowflakes, White Christmas; Inks:  Early Espresso, Whisper White Craft; Cardstock:  Real Red, Sahara Sand, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Home for Christmas Enamel Dots, SNAIL Permanent Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer

Let It Snow!

One of my favorite challenges is closing down after their current challenge.  It's with a sad heart that I enter my last card in the Colour Me...! Card Challenge and say good-bye.  I have enjoyed their challenges.  Thank you Tara and Hayley.

Combining challenges is something I enjoy doing and this time I was able to use three different ones.  That doesn't happen often but the card I made fit all three so well.  Colour Me...! had Soft Sky as their color this week and I combined it with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the "Let it Snow" theme from The Paper Players.

Stamp Sets:  Flurry of Wishes, Happy Scenes (sentiment); Ink:  Soft Sky; Cardstock:  Soft Sky, Whisper White, Whisper White Thick; Accessories & Tools:  Triple Banner Punch, Snow Flurry Punch, Candy Dots Brad Bases, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Dimensionals, SNAIL Permanent Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer

The colors I used are from the Colour Me...! Challenge.

Let It Snow!

While it isn't snowing here in Iowa, I know there are places that have had their first snows already.  Our weather has turned colder so I know it won't be long and we'll be seeing the white stuff flying through the air.  In the meantime, here is a happy little snowman who simply loves the snow!

Now that I've spent the day making all kinds of cards and goodies in my craft studio, I'm headed to the kitchen to get some soup simmering.  With the cooler temperatures, soup will be just the thing to warm me up while I enjoy a movie.

Stamp Sets:  Happy Scenes, White Christmas; Inks:  Basic Black Archival, Garden Green, Real Red, Smoky Slate, Tangerine Tango; Cardstock:  Crumb Cake; Accessories & Tools:  Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

Stamping Smiles Designs has sent out a Design Team Call so, I'm entering my happy little snowman in their Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.  I used the center line down.  It's a one layer card made from Kraft cardstock (Crumb Cake in my little corner of the world) using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  Wish me well!

Festive Friday Snow Trigger Challenge

The challenge for us at the Festive Friday Challenge Blog was to create a project based on the word 'snow.'  When I think of snow, I think of Christmas and tree hunting.  As a young girl, it was always so much fun to go with the family to find the perfect tree.  Many times it would be snowing when we searched the timber.  Below is the inspiration given for the challenge.  You can click the link above or the image below to go right to Festive Friday for all the challenge details.

Here is the card I made with a soon-to-be Christmas tree waiting patiently in the snow to be taken home and decorated.

Stamp Sets:  Lovely As a Tree, Joy, Itty Bitty Backgrounds (all Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Whisper White Craft, Night of Navy (both Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Night of Navy, Whisper White, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (all Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Snow Flurries Embossing Folder (Tim Holtz), Ticket Corner Punch, Rhinestone

Until next time . . . happy creating!

What do you mean there is more on the way?!

Iowa is bracing for another snowstorm and we are told to expect at least six inches if not more.  I'm just thankful that there really isn't any snow on the ground right now so it won't be added to a layer such as you see in the photo.

Tomorrow starts another hop, so check back after 8 p.m. Central Standard Time to see what that is all about.

Having Too Much Fun!

Last night was my local demonstrators Christmas get together so I was out having food and fun and fellowship.  We had a gift exchange and did I ever get some great things.  I can't wait to CASE some of them.  It is a very talented group of Stampin' Up!® Demonstrators.

So, that leads me to the image I am sharing with you today.  Given time constraints I went into My Digital Studio and made this very simple page.  Iowa has been without measurable snow for 288 days and from what the meteorologist tells us, it's going to be a while before we get any this year.  As much as I'd rather not have a lot of snow, it is needed.

Throughout this next week, I'll be sharing some of the new projects I've been working on.  They will make great gifts for family and friends.
