Happy Birthday

Okay, it's getting late and I have to be up early in the morning as I'm having breakfast out with my youngest son which means I'm going to keep this post a short one.  It's been a long day and I'm ready to shut everything down and enjoy some quiet time.

Using the sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I created this masculine birthday card.  I always have need for plenty of cards for guys.  I love how this one came together.  I stayed with the light and dark layers in the sketch and this is the result.  I embossed both of the layers but you can't see it on the patterned paper.

Here's another view of the card, which shows off the embossing done with the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!  The patterned paper was embossed using the Subtles Embossing Folder also from Stampin' Up!

The sketch I used is from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #352

It's time for a new sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  And, for me to share the news that I am having to step down from the Design Team once again.  Today is my last day with the team.  I have enjoyed my time with the challenge and will continue to participate as I love their sketches.

It's time to build up my stash of hello and thinking of you cards.  This sketch was perfect to show off this pretty flower from the Timeless Tropical stamp set with matching dies.

Stamp(s):  Timeless Tropical (Stampin' Up!)
Ink(s):  Jet Black (Altenew)
Colored Pencils:  Spanish Orange PC1003, Orange PC918, Apple Green PC912, Dark Green PC908 (Prismacolor Colored Pencils)
Cardstock:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Patterned Paper:  Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  In The Tropics Dies (Stampin' Up!)
Other:  Iridescent Bubbles

Above is a close of that pretty flower and below is a peek at what's inside.  I added a little flower in the lower right corner.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #350

It's time for the first challenge of 2020 from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I had fun with this sketch and it made for a terrific birthday card.

With January comes back-to-back birthdays for three of my grandsons.  They were all born in different years but their birthdays are one right after the other.  Although I do have a stash of masculine cards, I just had to have a play with the new Timeless Tropical stamp and die set.

Stamp(s):  Timeless Tropical (Stampin' Up!)
Ink(s):  Jet Black (Altenew)
Prismacolor Colored Pencils:  Apple Green PC912, Dark Green PC908, Sienna Brown PC945
Cardstock:  Gray Granite, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Oreo (Taylored Expressions)
Dies:  In The Tropics Dies (Stampin' Up!)
Other:  Oreo Enamel Dots (Taylored Expressions); Crystal Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen

What you can't see very well, is the wee bit of sparkle I added to the banners.  It gives just the right amount of subtle glimmer.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #348

It's time for a new sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Today I have my final Christmas card of the season.  All that I need are made and await a written note, an envelope and a stamp.  It will be a fun afternoon of getting them ready for the mail.

I used the same Holiday Florals stamp set along with the Pine Clipping Die.  This time I used Real Red, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede for the colors.  I cut the circle from the front of the card base and added the pine boughs to the inside of the card so they show throw the opening.

Stamp(s): Holiday Florals (Taylored Expressions)
Ink(s):  Real Red, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock:  Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Holiday Florals, Pine Clippings (Taylored Expressions); Standard Circles (Spellbinders)
Other:  Iridescent Gems; Orange Wink of Stella Brush (Zig)

This is how I arranged the pine clippings on the inside of the card.  I was going to put them around the circle opening but thought they would hold up better placed on the actual card.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #346

It's time for a new sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I'm still making Christmas cards and only need a couple more.   I love how this one came together.

Traditional colors are my favorites so I used Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow for my colors.  The silver you see is from the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I cut it out using the border die from the Everything Is Rosy Dies.  The pine branches are cut from the Pine Clippings Die.  I love that die!  The poinsettias were stamped using Poppy Parade.  They are from the Holiday Florals stamp set by Taylored Expressions.  There are three Vellum branches but they don't show up well on the Whisper White cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Holiday Florals stamp set and stamped with Mossy Meadow ink.  For the finishing touch, I added silver sequins with a rhinestone placed in the center.

Stamp(s):  Lovely Lattice (Stampin' Up!); Holiday Florals (Taylored Expressions)
Ink(s):  Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow (Stampin' Up!)
Cardstock:  Mossy Meadow, Poppy Parade, Whisper White, Vellum (Stampin' Up!)
Patterned Paper:  Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Every Is Rosy Dies (Stampin' Up!); Holiday Florals Dies (Taylored Expressions)
Other:  Silver Sequins;  Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #342

It's time for a new sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and I had such fun with this one.  To start, I used the Bubbly Stencil to make a rainbow background for the sentiment strips from the Simple Strips-Birthday stamp set.  What doesn't show up well in the photo is the vellum circles under that cute party hat.

Stamp Set(s):  Simple Strips-Birthday (Taylored Expressions)
Ink(s):  Cherry Pop, Candy Corn, Lemon Meringue, Blue Corn (Taylored Expressions); Jet Black (Altenew)
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape, Pineapple Punch, Vellum (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Simple Strips Die, Party Hat Die (Taylored Expressions)
Punches:  2" Circle Punch, 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch (Stampin' Up!)
Other:  Bubbly Stencil (Taylored Expressions); Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #334

It's time for a new sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I widened the window so it covers the whole card front.  You can't see it but the die-cut words are covered with shimmer and in real time they have a nice sparkle going.  Hope you can join us this week for the challenge.
