Happy Birthday

Okay, it's getting late and I have to be up early in the morning as I'm having breakfast out with my youngest son which means I'm going to keep this post a short one.  It's been a long day and I'm ready to shut everything down and enjoy some quiet time.

Using the sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I created this masculine birthday card.  I always have need for plenty of cards for guys.  I love how this one came together.  I stayed with the light and dark layers in the sketch and this is the result.  I embossed both of the layers but you can't see it on the patterned paper.

Here's another view of the card, which shows off the embossing done with the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up!  The patterned paper was embossed using the Subtles Embossing Folder also from Stampin' Up!

The sketch I used is from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Wishing You a Day

It's another day and time for another challenge.  The Paper Players Challenge had a wonderful inspiration photo this week and I just had to play along.  I love the colors found in it.

It's a clean and simple challenge but I think I got carried away.  There is a lot of navy showing so maybe that will be acceptable.  I do love this stamp set and the images it has.  It was fun to stamp and die-cut and put it all together.

Stamp(s):  Simple Flowers (Altenew); Woven Heirlooms (Stampin' Up!
Ink(s):  Seaside Spray, Granny Apple Green, Purple Posy, Highland Heather, Mint Macaron, Gorgeous Grape (Stampin' Up!); VersaMark
Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Simple Flowers Die (Altenew)
Other:  Arctic White Ultra-Fine Embossing Powder, Faceted Gems

And here's a close up of that wonderful sentiment from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set.  I do so love that font.  It's such pretty cursive.

The Paper Players have a Clean and Simple themed challenge with color influence from the North Pole.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Cheerful Thank You

With Christmas just over a month away, I know I'm going to need lots of thank you cards.  Here is one I made using one of the panels from the Boxed In Basics set from Taylored Expressions.  I used Copic Markers to color it, then added the panel to a card base of Pacific Point cardstock from Stampin' Up!  For the finishing touch, I added some Cherry Pop Enamel Dots, also from Taylored Expressions.

Flowers for Spring

Yesterday found me in my craft studio until the wee hours of this morning making these two cards for the current Twofer Card Challenge and The Flower Challenge.  The Twofer Card Challenge is the one where you have to make two different designs for two different occasions using the same stamps and/or dies.  The Flower Challenge is an anything goes for the month of March.  Of course, having new stamps and dies to play with could have been the incentive to simply sit and create.

Here are the two cards I made using the same stamp set and dies.  It's fun to create two totally different card designs using the same stamp set.  The blossoms theme for the challenge was perfect for making some bright, cheerful flowers.

My first card features the Gran's Garden stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  I stamped the different flowers and leaf stems onto Crumb Cake cardstock and cut them out using the Gran's Garden Dies from Papertrey Ink.  I stamped a sentiment from the Secret Garden Collage stamp set by TPC Studio onto some Sugar Cube cardstock,  Then, cut it out using the Double-Ended Flag Stacklets Dies from Taylored Expressions.  I popped up the banner with foam tape.  An easy and simple card to make.  It's a thinking of you card I'm sending to a dear friend.

Stamp Sets:  Gran's Garden (Papertrey Ink), Secret Garden Collage - sentiment (TPC Studio);  Inks:  Blue Corn, Lemon Meringue, Pea Pod, Plum Punch, Sugar Cube (all Taylored Expressions); Cardstock:  Crumb Cake (Stampin' Up!), Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions); Dies:  Double-ended Flag Stacklets Dies (Taylored Expressions)

My second card is one of encouragement and uses the same Gran's Garden stamp set and dies.  For this one I stamped the flowers in various colors along with the leaf stems and cut them all out.  They flowers are popped up with foam tape to add a bit of dimension.  The frame is cut using the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate by Taylored Expressions.

Stamp Sets:  Colorful Seasons - sentiment (Stampin' Up!), Gran's Garden (Papertrey Ink); Inks:  Cookie Monster, Lemon Meringue, Plum Punch, Poppy Seed, Strawberry Milkshake (all Taylored Expressions), Crushed Curry (Stampin' Up!), Wild Honey Distress Ink (Tim Holtz); Dies:  Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate (Taylored Expressions), Gran's Garden (Papertrey Ink); Other:  Sequins

The theme of blossoms is from the Twofer Card Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Thinking of You

Well, it looks like I'm going to be forced to get a new camera.  I'm not sure if it's the battery, the charger or it has simply worn out for all the use I give it.  I'm headed for the camera store in a day or two to have them check it out for me and I'm hoping it will be an easy fix, like a new battery.  In the meantime, I'm using my cell phone.  It's not doing too bad a job but I much prefer the camera.

My card today is a very simple one.  I used my Water Droplets stamp set by Designs by Ryn and stamped directly on the TE Sugar Cube card base using Marina Mist ink from Stampin' Up!  I cut a strip of Marina Mist cardstock and added it to the card front.  The sentiment was stamped on TE Sugar Cube cardstock using Poppy Seed ink from Taylored Expressions.  It's from the Colorful Seasons stamp set by Stampin' Up!  Next, I punched the ends using the Banner Punch from Stampin' Up!  The finishing touch was the Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  As I said, simple but I think pretty.  I love those water droplets.

The sketch I used is from the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Wacky Watercooler June 2016 Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Wacky Watercooler June 2016 Blog Hop!  As you may know, we have a new Annual Catalog full of some great new product.  Our blog hop this month has us celebrating some of our favorites among the new product.  Our favorite new In Color.  Our favorite Stamp Set/Bundle.  Our favorite Designer Series Paper.  There is so much I like in this catalog that it was hard for me to finally narrow it down.

Our blog hop runs in a circular fashion so, no matter where you begin, you will eventually find yourself back where you started.  Of course, that is not a bad thing.  With eight participants, I'm sure you'll want to take more than one look at all the great projects we have created for you.

My first project is showcasing my favorite new 2016-2018 In Color, Dapper Denim.  Yes, if it's blue then it's a favorite!  I also added just a touch of Sweet Sugarplum as that runs a close second.  Both the Dapper Denim and the Sweet Sugarplum inks were stamped off to give them a lighter, softer look.

Stamp Set:  Jar of Love; Inks:  Dapper Denim, Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate, Sweet Sugarplum; Cardstock:  2016-2017 In Colors Designer Series Paper Stack, Crumb Cake, Dapper Denim, Whisper White; Other:  Everyday Jars Framelits Dies, Pearl Basic Jewels

The sketch I used for my card is from the Sunday Stamps Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

http://sundaystamps.blogspot.ca/2016/06/sssc128-its-sketch-time.html

My next project showcases my favorite stamp set, Jar of Love and favorite dies, Everyday Jars Framelits Dies.  There is so much that can be done with this bundle.  I love those little lightning bugs.  They bring back fond memories of childhood when we chased them all over the yard and put them in a jar.  Before heading in for the night, we'd always let them go so they could go do whatever it is that lightning bugs do.

Stamp Set:  Jar of Love; Inks:  Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, StazOn Jet Black; Cardstock:  Dapper Denim, Shimmery White; Other:  Everyday Jars Framelits Dies, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Silver Gelly Roll Pen

My third and final project showcases the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper.  I absolutely love Night of Navy and Whisper White together.  And, in case you haven't noticed, I seem to have a blue theme running through all of my projects.  What can I say?  I so totally love blue that it's my go to color. It wasn't planned but, trust me, I can so live with it.  :-)  Oh, and let's not forget that fantastic Copper Embossing Powder.  If you don't have it yet, you are definitely going to want to add it to your list.

Stamp Sets:  In the Meadow, Kinda Eclectic, Swirly Bird; Inks:  Night of Navy, VersaMark; Cardstock:  Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Whisper White; Other:  Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies, Copper Embossing Powder, Night of Navy Baker's Twine, Elegant Butterfly Punch

Jean Fitch is up next and I'm sure you are going to love her projects.  Just click the image below see.

Beautiful Birthday

Card stock, ribbon and stamp make for a very nice card.  I love the clean crisp lines of this one.  In going through one of my storage totes I came across some retired card stock that I didn't know I had so using it for my Card Buffet makes sense.  Tomorrow I'll show you one other card made for the Card Buffet then, I'll have something different to share with you.

Stamp Set:  Beautiful Birthday - retired (Stampin' Up!); Ink:  Pool Party (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Whisper White, Not Quite Navy - retired (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 1/8" Pool Party Ribbon - retired (Stampin' Up!), Dimensionals

Flower Shop with Work of Art

The other day I was making some new cards for my Card Buffet.  I liked the look of it so much that I decided to make a few more using mostly the 2014-2016 In Colors.  I am loving those colors.  I CASEd this design but the person did not put a watermark on her photo, so I can't mention her name but I do thank her for the inspiration.

Stamp Sets:  Flower Shop, Work of Art, Simply Sketched - retired (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Blackberry Bliss, Pistachio Pudding, Tangelo Twist, Lost Lagoon (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Whisper White, Pistachio Pudding, Tangelo Twist, Lost Lagoon, Silver Glimmer Paper (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  1/2" Circle Punch, Pansy Punch (Stampin' Up!), Dimensionals

Crisp Cantaloupe Flowers

The other day, while making up some new cards for my Card Buffet, my friend, Heather, came over to spend some time crafting with me.  She made a beautiful card for a recent ColourQ Challenge using Stampin' Up! colors and the Flower Shop stamp set.  You can see her card HERE.  It's really beautiful.

Once she was done she asked if she could help me get cards ready so this is one that she stamped.  Clean and simple and I love the combination of Wisteria Wonder and Crisp Cantaloupe.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope, Simply Sketched - retired (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Crisp Cantaloupe, Smoky Slate (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Large Pearl Basic Jewels - retired (Stampin' Up!)

Happy Birthday Flowers

Today's card is a remake of one that I made quite some time ago.  I thought it would be a good addition to the Card Buffet as it is such an easy but pretty card to make.  I used the flourish from Everything Eleanor and added flowers punched from the retired 2012-2014 In Colors using the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack flower.  It is the cutest little flower!  The sentiment is from the new Bloom with Hope Hostess Stamp Set.  So, old design, new version.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope, Everything Eleanor (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Gumball Green - retired, Midnight Muse - retired (Stampin' Up!), Card Stock:  Whisper White, Midnight Muse - retired, Primrose Petals - retired, Raspberry Ripple - retired, Summer Starfruit - retired (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack Flower, Scalloped Oval Punch, Oval Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Mini Glue Dots (Stampin' Up!), Dimensionals

It's a New Watercooler Challenge

The challenge this week is to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) a project from the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalog.  The project I chose to CASE can be found on page 158 of the Annual Catalog.  It's the one on the upper left.  As you can see, I changed things up a bit.  CASE-ing doesn't necessarily mean you have to make an exact duplicate of the design.

One of the new 2014-2016 In Colors that I really like is Tangelo Twist.  Honestly?  That really surprised me as I really don't like orange but there is something about this one that just reached out and grabbed me.  I also wondered how it would look paired with Blackberry Bliss, another of the new colors.  Now I know.  I must say that I like the two together.  Wonders never cease!

Stamp Sets:  Petite Petals, Work of Art (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Tangelo Twist, VersaMark (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Blackberry Bliss, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, Tangelo Twist, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Bird Builder Punch, Petite Petals Punch, White Embossing Powder, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Mini Glue Dots (Stampin' Up!)

The Whisper White Baker's Twine really look blah when I put it on the card.  Before I attached it to the card, I sponged some Tangelo Twist over it and gave it a new look.  It was just the right touch of color to keep the little bow from blending in to the point of invisible.

You can find all the details and play along with the Watercooler Challenges HERE.

Freshly Made Sketches Meets ColourQ

It's a perfect match, too!  I really like how it came together and I got a bit carried away with the sparkly.  I would have added more Rhinestone Basic Jewels but figured that would be a bit of overkill.  I know, the rhinestones don't sparkle in the photo but the real thing certainly does.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope, Petite Petals (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Calypso Coral, Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana, Summer Starfruit - retired (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Calypso Coral, pacific Point, coastal Cabana, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Petite Petals Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!), Dimensionals

The color challenge is from ColourQ.  You can find it HERE.

Sunday Christmas Card Challenge #29

Hello, everyone.  I hope you all have had a grand week.  It's Sunday and time for another Christmas Card Challenge.  Are you ready for this one?  The option is to use three or more patterned papers on your card.  Wow!  I was not coming up with a good design but then, remembered the great sketch from The Friday Mashup.  I created a card for their challenge and knew the sketch would be perfect for a Christmas card.

Stamp Sets:  Four Frames, Joyous Celebration - retired (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green - retired (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Mossy Meadow, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!) Vintage Christmas Paper Pad (My Mind's Eye), Silver & Gold Collection (Bo Bunny); Accessories & Tools:  Decorative Label Punch, 3/8" Mossy Meadow Satin Ribbon, Pearl Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

You can find the Sunday Christmas Card Challenge HERE.   The only real rule is to create a holiday or Christmas card.  The use of three or more patterned paper is optional.
