Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #119 - Judy's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

This week happens to be our Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  It's hosted by one of our new Watercooler Artists, Judy Markowitz.

Now that I have all of my Mother's Day cards done, it's time to focus on my Father's Day cards.  The Wetlands stamp set from Stampin' Up! makes for a great guy card, don't you think?

For this card, I did something just a wee bit different.  The card itself is actually attached to a single layer of Basic Black cardstock which is why I shared the second photo.

Stamp Sets:  Crazy about You, Wetlands; Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Cardstock:  Basic Black, Whisper White

For all the challenge details and to share your project, visit the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge by clicking the image below.  We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday, 22nd at 6:00 p.m. Central Time to link your project.

Happy Father's Day

It isn't often that I find three challenges that will work well together on one card.  A sketch challenge and a color challenge are what I usually combine.  When I found myself in need of another Father's Day card, I had no idea what to make.  In came the Color Throwdown challenge, the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and The Paper Players challenge.  The additional of the theme challenge was perfect.  Since this one has to be mailed, I didn't want to get to extreme with layers and embellishments.  I do think the three challenges came together quite nicely.  What say you?

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen; Inks:  Pear Pizzazz, Vintage Photo (Tim Holtz); Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Patterned Paper (Unknown); Accessories & Tools:  Postage Stamp Stacklets (Taylored Expressions), Enamel Dots (Unknown), Dimensionals

The colors I used are from the Color Throwdown Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Happy Father's Day and The Friday Mashup #213

Although I already have my Father's Day cards done, I wanted to use the colors and the theme from this week's Friday Mashup challenge.  We had to use Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Island Indigo for colors or a Father's Day theme or use the colors and the theme together.  I wasn't too sure how these colors were going to work together but I'm actually pleased with the final outcome.  The little tie from the Something for Baby stamp set were perfect for a tribute to Dad.

Stamp Sets:  Crazy about You, Something for Baby; Inks:  Cajun Craze, Garden Green, Island Indigo; Card Stock:  Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack (retired), Island Indigo, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Baby's First Framelits Dies, Silver Sequin Trim, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

The colors and theme are from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

Retro Sketches Challenge #165

Today has me sharing my last Father's Day card.  This one was made with my youngest son, Michael, in mind.  He is my handyman and although he is a project manager at a local business, he still likes to get his hands dirty.  One of his gifts is the ability to figure out what is wrong with a car and fix it.  Wayne, his oldest brother, calls him the Spock of cars because he can put his hand on the car, mind meld with it and figure out the problem.

When I needed a different car, Mike started looking around for one while I started saving my pennies to fund the project.  Lo and behold, he found a Ford Escort LX station wagon that had a blown engine.  Since the engine in my Ford Escort LX sedan was in perfect running order, he swapped out the engines.  Now I have the sweetest little red station wagon that will take me anywhere I want to go.  The beauty of it all is, I have no car payments!  Sweeeeet!  I am so blessed!

For my card, I used up some of the scraps that were left from other projects.  I love being able to use them up.  The new 2015-2016 Annual Catalog is coming out on June 2nd with new colors and new papers and, well, lots of new products.  Here is a sneak peek at Tip Top Taupe, one of the new 2015-2017 In Colors and the new 6 x 6 Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack.

Stamp Set:  Crazy about You; Ink:  Tip Top Taupe (sneak peek); Card Stock:  Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (sneak peek), Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Mustache Framelits Die (retiring), Scallop Edge Punch (retiring), Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The sketch I used is from the Retro Sketches Challenge.

Happy Father's Day

Two down and only one more to go!  The colors from the Colour Me...! Challenge were perfect for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  I love that Bermuda Bay.  It's bright and cheerful and looks really well with So Saffron and there is just a hint of Pear Pizzazz that I used for the sentiment.  So, there you have it for this time.  I know, it's the second one for today but I'm playing catch with up with some of my favorite challenges.  Hopefully, tomorrow will see me back on a normal schedule.  I'll share my last Father's Day card with you then.

Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Ink:  Pear Pizzazz; Card Stock:  Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, So Saffron, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Stars Framelits, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The Friday Mashup Challenge #209

It's coming down to the wire and I finally got my card made for The Friday Mashup!  For this challenge, we could make a project using the colors of Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Night of Navy or create a project for "Celebrations" or create a project that put them all together for a mashup!  I love to mash it up!

Since I'm headed out to sing in the rain while I run some errands, this is going to be a short post simply to share my card with you.  I really like how this turned out.  I didn't need any more graduation cards at this time since everyone has already ordered them but I do need three Father's Day cards for my boys.  This one will be headed to my oldest son who is overseas at this time.  I regularly send him cards but I like to keep them very simple with minimal embellishments.  This one will be perfect.  Now I only need to come up with cards for the two sons who live close by.

Stamp Sets:  Best Day Ever (retired), Build a Bouquet (retiring), Crazy about You, Gorgeous Grunge; Inks:  Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy; Card Stock:  Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer

The colors and theme are from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

Happy Father's Day on the Open Sea

Hello everyone!  Here I am again mashing it up with The Friday Mashup Challenge.  I so enjoy this challenge.  You should give it a try.  This time we could use the Ombre' Background Technique.  It's one I've seen but never tried.  You can find the tutorial HERE.  Since I needed to make a Father's Day card and because The Open Sea Stamp Set has been on my table forever, it just seemed the perfect time to try this new to me technique.  I used Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo for my colors.  The 'real' card is not so white on the top, the color shows up well but in the picture, it would not cooperate and, no matter how many times I snapped the photo, it still looked the same.  Sigh...

Stamp Sets:  The Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Island Indigo, Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Write Markers:  Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo; Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Circles Collection Framelits, Linen Thread, Dimensionals

Click HERE to see the challenge at The Friday Mashup that inspired my design.

A Black and White Father's Day Card

Well, now that I've completely neglected posting to my blog, I'm getting back into the swing of it.  I've got lots of cards and projects done and will be sharing those as the days go by.  For today, here is the newest Father's Day card I designed.  I used the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool and the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate to make the diamond design on the Whisper White.  After I attached it and the ribbon and did the stamping, I added a drop of Onyx Pearl Liquid Pearls at the point of the diamonds.

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen; Ink:  Whisper White Craft; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, 5/8" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon

Old Jalopy for Dad

The other day I mentioned that I was working on some cards featuring an Old Jalopy.  Well, I finally managed to get one of them done.  I thought it would make a great Father's Day card and the sentiment from Delightful Dozen fit perfectly.

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen (Stampin' Up!); Ink:  Whisper White Craft Ink Pad; Card Stock:  Bravo Burgundy, Basic Black, White Vellum (Stampin' Up!), Basic Grey/Lucille Designer Paper Pad; Accessories & Tools:  Old Jalopy Die (Tim Holtz), 1/8" Mini Brads (Stampin' Up!), Stardust Clear Glittering Gel Ink Pen, Dimensionals, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

With Mother's Day just around the corner, I think it's time to make something for her.  Stay tuned for further developments!

Happy Father's Day

As promised, here is the other card I made using another of my new stencils, Mini Harlequin.  Again, I kept it clean and simple.  I can't wait to try this one on a new canvas.  I have this idea floating around in my head using this stencil and modeling paste.  Well, I'll save that for another time.  For now, here's the Father's Day card I made.

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen; Ink:  Basic Gray; Card Stock:  Naturals White; Accessories & Tools:  Decorative Label Punch, The Crafters Workshop Mini Harlequin Stencil, Stampin' Dimensionals

It does play tricks on your eyes, doesn't it?

Gumball Green Trees for Father's Day

Today was the first chance I've had to get my fingers in the ink of the new In Colors.  I didn't have a lot of time so I kept the card very clean and simple.  But, I wanted to give you a peek at the beautiful new colors that will be available in the new Annual Catalog on June 1st.  I love the new colors and the new Classic Stampin' Pads.

Stamp Steps:  Lovely As a Tree, Christmas Lodge, Delightful Dozen; Inks:  Gumball Green, Midnight Muse; Card Stock:  Marina Mist, Naturals White; Accessories & Tools:  Labels Collection Framelits, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Stampin' Dimensionals

Father's Day is not all that far off so I'm getting some cards and gift items made up to take in for my display at the Crafters' Gift Boutique.  Stop in when you're in the neighborhood.

Green Garden Razzleberry Birthday

And, here is the last of the three.  I was, again, browsing through some of my Stampin' Success demonstrator magazines and came across a layout for a card that I really liked.  I made a few changes and here is the finished card.

Stamp Sets:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, Itty Bitty Bits, Take It To Heart, Because I Care (retired); Ink:  Rich Razzleberry; Card Stock:  Garden Green, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Brights Designer Series Paper Rich Razzleberry, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Labels Collection Framelits Dies, Antique Brad

Wouldn't this make a great card for a guy?  Simple, sleek and very little frill.  You could also change the sentiment and use it for a Father's Day card or a thinking of you card.  It's fun to be able to use one card design for multiple occasions.

Until we meet again...
