It's late here, or early, depending on how you look at it,  so I'm going to make this a rather short post.  I seem to be good at that lately, don't I?  Today I played along with two challenges, Colour Me...! and Freshly Made Sketches.  I think they look good together.  I also wanted to let you know that tonight at 8 p.m. Central Time, the Wacky Watercolor Blog Hop starts.  I'm know you're going to want to see all the great projects, so be sure to make a note to come see what we have in store for you.

Sunday Christmas Card Challenges #53

It's Anything Goes week at Sunday Christmas Card Challenges.  I decided to finally use some of my hoarded Graphic 45 Twelve Days of Christmas patterned paper.  I've had it for a while and not used it.  I love the vintage look of their paper.  Can you believe there is no stamping done here?  The only ink used was the marker to color the pearls and to color the edges of the layers.  A little punching, a little fussy cutting, a little sponging and voila! a beautiful vintage Christmas card.  I love vintage!

Ink:  Vintage Photo (Tim Holtz); Card Stock:  Real Red, Twelve Days of Christmas (Graphic 45); Copic Marker:  R27; Accessories & Tools:  Eyelet Border Punch (retired), Distress Tool, Dimensionals, Pearl Basic Jewels, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Silver Gelly Roll Pen, Stampin' Trimmer

Sunday Christmas Card Challenges #52

It's Sunday and that means a new Christmas Card Challenge.  This week's optional challenge is a Christmas tree inspired by the inspiration photo.  I saw this tree made from hearts quite some time ago and have always wanted to give it a try.  I don't remember the original designer's name, but I do thank her for her inspiration.  It's one of the cards we made in my last Christmas card class.  Clean, simple and just plain cute.

Stamp Sets:  Heard from the Heart (retired), Pennant Parade (retired); Inks:  Old Olive, Real Red; Card Stock:  Whisper White, Old Olive, Real Red; Accessories & Tools:  Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Owl Builder Punch, Linen Thread, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Multipurpose Liquid Glue

A Triple Challenge

It isn't often that I can combine three challenges using one card, but this one came to gather right nicely.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch, the colors from Pals Paper Arts and the theme of 'thanks' from SUO Challenges.  The flowers were stamped using Cajun Craze ink, two with a full load of ink and two that were stamped off to give a softer look.  So, what do you think of my leaves?  They were made using the Four Feathers stamp set and Feather Framelits Dies.  :-)

Stamp Sets:  Hardwood, Flower Shop, Four Feathers; Inks:  Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow; Card Stock:  Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Pansy Punch, Feathers Framelits Dies, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The CAS(E) this Sketch challenge can be found HERE.

Sunday Christmas Card Challenges #49

Hi everyone!  This week's Christmas Card Challenges optional challenge is to use no embellishments.  No embellishments is not easy for me considering I love sparkly.  So, I used my favorite Lovely As a Tree Stamp Set and kept it to a single layer.  Nothing to it!

Stamp Sets:  Lovely As a Tree, Christmas Bliss, White Christmas, For All Things; Inks:  Blackberry Bliss, Always Artichoke, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sky; Card Stock:  Whisper White

And that is all there is to that.  A single layer card and no embellishments.  I look forward to seeing all the great projects from you all.  And, don't forget we have a Design Team Call open until November 10th.  You can find all the details HERE.

Freshly Made Sketches 160

Whew!  Time has definitely not been on my side these days.  It's a case of the hurriered I go the behinder I get.  :-)  The week has been filled with making birthday cards, designing my Design Team Christmas cards for Christmas Card Challenges and the cards for my upcoming Christmas Card Aplenty Class.  I need a vacation!  Not really, it just sounded (is that a word?) good.  I love the creative outlet card making gives me.

Today's card was made using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  It worked perfectly for a masculine card that I needed.  Circles and dots do abound here.

Stamp Set:  Four You; Ink:  Basic Gray; Card Stock:  Basic Gray, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Chalk Talk Framelits Dies, 1" Circle Punch, Frosted Sequins, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

You can find the Freshly Made Sketches challenge HERE.

Gentle Peace

It's the newest photopolymer stamp set from Stampin' Up!® and I love it!  My order came today and it was like Christmas in my house although that's how I always feel when I get my orders.  Gentle Peace is a wonderful image of Mary, Joseph and Jesus, just the kind of image I love for Christmas.  It's a reminder of why we celebrate the season.

The image was stamped on Vellum using VersaMark, then embossed with Silver Stampin' Up!® Embossing Powder.  I turned it over and colored the star and the baby Jesus with Stampin' Write Markers.  After it was colored, I adhered it to a pieced of Sahara Sand card stock and popped it up with dimensionals onto the Marina Mist card stock that I'd embossed with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.

Stamp Set:  Gentle Peace; Ink:  Soft Suede; Stampin' Write Markers:  Crushed Curry, Marine Mist, Blush Blossom (retired); Card Stock:  Soft Suede, Marina Mist, Sahara Sand, Vellum; Accessories & Tools:  Lucky Stars Embossing Folder, Silver Stampin' Embossing Powder, SNAIL Adhesive, Transparent Adhesive (Glue Dots), Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy

Nicholas Chance is turning 8!

Tomorrow is Nic's birthday but I wanted to share the card I made for him today since each Sunday is dedicated to the Sunday Christmas Card Challenges.  Some time back , Nic discovered Dr. Who and instantly became a fan.  From what I understand Mom is making one of her great cakes and I'm sure it will have a Dr. Who theme.  Most of the product I used in his birthday card is retired but given he is turning eight, the card may not last long.  :-)  I've been invited over after church for supper and the traditional cake and ice cream celebration.  Apparently he is going to be totally blown away by Mom and Dad's gift and I can't wait to see his reaction!

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen (retired), Feeling Sentimental (retired); Inks:  Midnight Muse (retired), Whisper White Craft; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Gold Foil Sheets, Not Quite Navy (retired) , Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Confetti Stars Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, White Opaque Pen, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer

It's getting late so I think I'm going to wrap this one up and get some sleep.  It's a busy day tomorrow as I'm needing to get a set of swap cards done as well as designing and making my projects for the next Watercooler Stamping Blog Hop which starts Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Central time.  Be sure to stop back and take a tour.

Retro Sketches 136

Well, there is nothing like deciding to join a challenge less than five hours before it closes now is there!  I'm not a procrastinator but I sure seem to be on the road to acquiring the habit.  Not really, it's just been a busy week and I'm behind on everything.  And, tonight my favorite oldest granddaughter is joining me for some pizza and a movie!  Now on to the card I made for the Retro Sketches challenge.

Stamp Set:  Four You; Ink:  Tempting Turquoise; Card Stock:  All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack, Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Vellum; Accessories & Tools:  Gold Metallic Baker's Twine, Modern Morocco Die (My Favorite Things), SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Transparent Adhesive (Glue Dots), Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 240

It's been a while since I've played along with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  With the holidays fast approaching, I decided to do a Thanksgiving card but a rather none traditional one.  Usually you think of Autumn colors for this time of year but I decided to go for a cooler look as in the weather has been cold where I live.  Rainy, windy and just plain gloomy.  I'm so not ready for Winter!

Stamp Set:  For All Things; Inks:  Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky; Card Stock:  All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper, Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky; Accessories & Tools:  Circles Collection Framelits, Frosted Sequins, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Sticky Strip, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

You can find the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge sketch HERE, if you'd like to play along.

MFTWSC197 and FabFri52

Hey everyone!  Today's card was made using the the colors from the Fab Friday Challenge and the sketch from My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge (which I missed since I forgot to link to the challenge).  I love combining challenges.  The colors were perfect for my second Halloween card of the year.  Since I rarely make any, I find it interesting that I'm suddenly thinking I need to make one for each of my grandchildren.  They'll sure be surprised since I've never sent them one before.  :-)

Stamp Set:  Holiday Home; Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, Tangelo Twist, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Spiral Flower Originals Die, SNAIL Adhesive, Crystal Effects, Sticky Strip

CTS96 and CQC262

It's very rarely that I make anything pink.  I like pink but it's not a color I go to very often.  I'd much rather play with blue.  But, the color challenge at ColourQ was to pretty to pass up.  I do like pink and black together and adding a touch of silver (which is my favorite) had me instantly things of sparkle and stars.  The sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch! was a perfect match.  I really like how this one turned out.

Stamp Set:  Four You; Ink:  Basic Black; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Silver Glimmer Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Confetti Stars Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, 1/4" Circle Punch, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer

It's Been a Day!

Ever have one of those days when you look at the world and go, "What?"  I was in the middle of a blog post and poof! my keyboard quit working.  Given it's wireless, the first thing I did was change the batteries.  Nope, that didn't work.  Absolutely nothing made a difference.  Sad thing is, I had another keyboard that I know works just fine but it has one of the old round connectors on it and there is nothing like that on the back of my computer, everything is USB and I don't have an adapter.
So, I put out a cry for help to my number two son, Matthew.  Bless his heart, he gave me a really nice keyboard and I'm back in business.

And, with that said, here is a cute little bird who has the same look on its face that I had on mine when I puzzled over what was wrong with my keyboard.  I have to say his look is much cuter than mine.  :-)   Enjoy and I'll be back later with a new card to share with you.

Paper Players 215

It isn't often that I make anything resembling Halloween but the images from the Holiday Home stamp set were perfect for the Paper Players sketch challenge.  Funny thing is, it's very similar to the design Sandy Mathias did and that was not intentional on my part.  I didn't see hers until after I had mine all done.  One of the things I purposefully do when I enter a challenge, is not look at the projects from the design team until after I have mine done. Interesting how we can see the same thing in a sketch and come up with a slightly different look.

Stamp Set:  Holiday Home; Inks:  Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  1" Square Punch, Petite Curly Label Punch, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer

CAS(E) this Sketch 94 and ColourQ 260

Ever have one of those days when you know what you should be doing but you are avoiding and doing what you want to do?  Well, that's my day for you.  I have a mile long list of things I need to do and here I am making cards.  Maybe that is the beauty of retirement.  You make your list, then ignore it to have some fun.  At least there is nothing earth shattering on my list.  One of the things I've found about making lists, if you don't get it done today put it at the top of tomorrow's list.  You'd be surprised at how quickly you do get all things done.  Now on to the card I made for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge and the ColourQ challenge.

Stamp Sets:  Four You, Work of Art; Inks:  Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Tangerine Tango; Card Stock:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Star Jewels (Doodlebug Design), SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer
All Stampin' Up!® Product unless otherwise noted.

Just Add Ink Flutters with CASology

Another quick, short post for you today.  I've been a bit under the weather so haven't spent a lot of time creating but I managed a wee bit of time to combine a couple of challenges.  I loved the sketch at Just Add Ink and the design fit the CASology Cue Card Word Challenge perfectly!  I always thing of butterflies when I see or hear the word flutter.

Stamp Set:  Four You; Ink:  Elegant Eggplant; Blendabilities:  Coastal Cabana; Card Stock:  Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, All Is Calm Designer Series Paper, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack; Accessories & Tools:  Elegant Butterfly Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer

Sunday Christmas Card Challenges #44

It's an 'anything goes' challenge for us this week at Sunday Christmas Card Challenges.  You get to choose the design and the colors.  I chose a clean and simple (CAS) design for this one.  I also used one of my favorite techniques.  I attached my squares of paper, stamped the sentiment, then used an embossing folder to dot up the whole layer.  I used one of my favorite retired stamp sets for the sentiment.

Stamp Set:  Heard from the Heart (retired); Ink:  Cherry Cobbler; Card Stock:  Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Trim the Tree; Accessories & Tools:  1" Square Punch, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

You can find the details for the Sunday Christmas Card Challenges HERE.  We do hope you will join in and share your projects with us.

Retro Sketches 133

A quick, short post for you today to share the card I made using the sketch from Retro Sketches.  I know, there is nothing like waiting until the last minute.  Considering I've had the card made for several days, I just can't figure that one out.  Anyway, here's my take on this weeks' sketch.  The sentiment was stamped on the inside since it is such a large one.

Stamp:  Fancy Thank You (Hero Arts); Ink:  Blackberry Bliss; Card Stock:  Hello Honey, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack; Accessories & Tools:  Corner Rounder, Whisper White Baker's Twine, Brights Buttons (retired), Rhinestone Basic Jewels

You can find the Retro Sketches Challenge HERE.
