Eat Cake

Oh, the weather outside has been frightful so what do I do, I stay inside where it's warm and craft to my hearts' content.  It also helps to be retired and not have to worry about getting to work.

Today's card was made for the Fab Friday Challenge.  It's been a while since I've played along with this challenge and loved the sketch they had for this time around.  I'm thinking of making a set of these for one of the Christmas gifts I need.  And, it fit the Just Us Girls Wild Card Week-Anything Goes.

On a Blackberry Bliss card base I added a layer of the pretty Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.  I already had the sentiment strips in my stash and I added them using foam tape for some dimension.  For the finishing touch, I added some Iridescent Gems.

Stamp(s):  Simple Strips-Birthday (Taylored Expressons)
Ink(s):  Jet Black (Altenew)
Cardstock:  Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Patterned Paper:  Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!)
Dies:  Simple Strips Die (Taylored Expressions)
Other:  Iridescent Gems

I've entered my card in the following challenges:

Fab Friday Challenge #58

It looks like we are headed for a heat wave today.  They're saying it's going to be 41 degrees.  The downside is it's going to snow again.  I can't complain as we have not had what I would call a typical Iowa winter although we have had plenty of bitter cold.  Lately, I've been making a lot of cards with flowers.  I'm thinking that's telling me I'm more than ready for Spring.

I love this new Petal Potpourri Stamp Set and the Flower Medallion Punch.  You can find them both in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  I think I should have added a couple of more leaf stems, don't you?  You have to admit that it's a bright one!

Stamp Set:  Petal Potpourri; Inks:  Pool Party; Card Stock:  All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack, Island Indigo, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi; Accessories & Tools:  Flower Medallion Punch, Bird Builder Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

The sketch I used is from the Fab Friday Challenge Blog.

MFTWSC197 and FabFri52

Hey everyone!  Today's card was made using the the colors from the Fab Friday Challenge and the sketch from My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge (which I missed since I forgot to link to the challenge).  I love combining challenges.  The colors were perfect for my second Halloween card of the year.  Since I rarely make any, I find it interesting that I'm suddenly thinking I need to make one for each of my grandchildren.  They'll sure be surprised since I've never sent them one before.  :-)

Stamp Set:  Holiday Home; Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, Tangelo Twist, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Spiral Flower Originals Die, SNAIL Adhesive, Crystal Effects, Sticky Strip

The Fab Friday Challenge can be found HERE.

Freshly Made Sketches 154 Meets Fab Friday 50

Combining challenges is something I really enjoy doing, usually because I have a  deadline and one challenge will close before the other but I want to play along.  With Design Team obligations for Christmas Card Challenges, upcoming events to prep for and custom orders coming in, it's no wonder I like the two for one.  It simplifies my life and still keeps me creating all of the time.

Today's card comes from the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Fab Friday, two of my favorite challenges.  It's been a while since I used my Beautiful Wings Embosslits and I was in the mood for some pretty butterflies.

Stamp Set:  Four You; Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Whisper White, Gold Foil Sheets; Accessories & Tools:  Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape (retired), Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches can be found HERE.

Bloom with Hope

Two challenges, one card.  It's all good.  I love combining a sketch challenge and a color challenge.  For me, it's creating made easy.  Fab Friday's color challenge uses colors I would not necessarily put together.  Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight, yes, but Strawberry Slush... now that one with the others I wasn't so sure about.  Can I just say, I've changed my mind?  I did stamp off the sentiment to give it a softer look.  I was afraid the fully inked stamp would be too much.  And, I loved the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.  It was perfect for showcasing the flower.  So, here is the finished project.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope, Kinda Eclectic; Inks:  Coastal Cabana Blendabilities, Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush, Copic Sketch Markers Y13, Y19, Paris Dusk Memento (Tsukineko); Card Stock:  Whisper White, Strawberry Slush; Accessories & Tools:  Dimensionals
All Stampin' Up!® Product unless otherwise noted.

Happy Birthday Wishes

You know, sometimes you can just over think things to the point of  wanting to scream.  That was me trying to figure out how I was going to use all four colors from the Fab Friday Challenge and have my card look decent.  I mean, sometimes too much card stock is not a good thing.  Then, light bulb moment here, it doesn't always have to be paper, how about using some of the inks you have on the shelf!  I don't know why I always think card stock, but once I figured that little dilemma out, here is the card I made using the Fab Friday colors and the sketch from Pals Paper Arts.

Stamp Sets:  Gorgeous Grunge, Simply Sketched (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Coastal Cabana, Summer Starfruit (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Circles Collection Framelits, Large Pearl Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!), Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles (Tim Holtz), Pop Dots

Beautiful Floral

For today's card, I combined two challenges.  Crushed Curry and Midnight Muse are the colors from the Colour Me Weekly Creative Challenge.  The sketch is from the Fab Friday Challenge Blog.  I really like how this came together.  I love these two colors together.  Crushed Curry seems to go with so many different colors and I love how well it looks with the Midnight Muse.

Stamp Sets:  Trust God, Flower Shop (Stampin' Up!); Ink:  Midnight Muse (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Very Vanilla, Crushed Curry, Midnight Muse, Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Pack - retired (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Blossom Punch, Pansy Punch, Petite Petals Punch, 1/8" Silver Mini Brads, Pearl Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals (Stampin' Up!)

It's a Work of Art

Have I ever told you how much I love challenges?  Well, I do.  They are a wonderful way to keep up on my card making.  This is the first year I've kept on top of all the birthdays, anniversaries and all the other days that require a card.  For today I'm again combining a couple of challenges, a color challenge from Fab Friday and a sketch challenge from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Stamp Set:  Work of Art (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Summer Starfruit, Smokey Slate, Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Espresso (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Gold Sequin Trim, Crystal Effects (Stampin' Up!)

You can find the Fab Friday Color Challenge HERE.

Two great challenges, one clean and simple card.  I totally love the look of this one.  I wasn't sure of the colors but I think they look so well together.

Fab Friday 14

Today's card was inspired by the Fab Friday color challenge.  You can find out all about it by clicking on the following link, http://fabfridaystampinchallenge.blogspot.com/.  It's been a while since I last participated in one of their challenges and the colors are ones that I've not paired together before.  This is the color palette they gave for the challenge.

Here is the card I came up with for this challenge.

Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes;  Ink:  Calypso Coral; Card Stock:  Sahara Sand, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Pink Pirouette, Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stacks; Accessories & Tools:  7/8" Scallop Punch, Paper Doily Sizzlits L, 1/8" Mini Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals

So, what do you think?  Does it work for you?

Fab Friday Challenge 3

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to join in the challenge this time around.  It's been a full two weeks and it looks to be the norm for the next couple of months.  While my little man was taking his nap, I was able to get my project done.  I have been in a 'blue' mood lately, so kept to that theme for this one.  All but the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper and the Modern Label are bits and pieces of card stock that had already been cut or punched.

To start things off, here is the sketch we were challenged to use.

And, here is the end product inspired by that sketch.  I really enjoy their challenges.

Stamp Set(s):  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Ink(s):  Marina Mist; Card Stock:  Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper; Accessories & Tools:  Blossom Punch, Modern Label Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels (colored with permanent marker), Stampin' Dimensionals

Now it's time for me to get busy in the kitchen.  It's Tuesday night and a friend and I get together to have supper and watch our favorite TV programs.  We always have a good time!
