Roses are Red

Yes, it's a one layer card but I think I may have stretched the one third just a wee bit.  I love one layer cards as they are the easiest to put in the mail.  No extra postage required.

The heart and sentiment are from the Heartfelt stamp set and that is pretty much all there was to the card.  I stamped the heart in red and the sentiment in black, added some splatters and, for once, no embellishments.  I was so tempted to add sequins or enamel dots but feel that would have taken away from the simplicity of the card.

Stamp(s):  Heartfelt (Stampin' Up!)
Ink(s):  Real Red (Stampin' Up!); Jet Black (Altenew)
Cardstock:  Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)

I'm entering my card in the Perfectly CAS Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Love Is In The Air

Here is another card I made to send to one of my friends or someone in my family.  It's a very simple design but I love that patterned paper.  This one happens to be one without the foil accents.  The red heart was punched from the patterned paper as the design fits perfectly with the scalloped heart punch.  It's foil but you can't really see that as it did not photograph well.

This is what the inside of the card looks like.  Since I always write a note in the cards I send, I like to leave plenty of room.

Stamp(s):  Heartfelt (Stampin' Up!)
Ink(s):  Real Red
Cardstock:  Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!)
Patterned Paper:  From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!)
Punch(s):  Heart Punch Pack (Stampin' Up!)

I'm linking up my card in the following challenge(s):

Heart Frame

Hello and another Happy Friday to all of you!  Today I'm sharing a card I made using a new die from Cheapo Dies.  I'll be here every Friday to share a new die with you, so I hope to see you again soon.  In the meantime, be sure to take time to check out all the different dies that are available.  They are good quality and you just can't beat the price.  I know you'll love them as much as I.  You can find them HERE.

Today's card features the Heart Frame Die.  There aren't too many cards I need to make for Valentine's Day but this one was a perfect one for my stash.  This die would also be pretty for a wedding card, too.

On a Petal Pink card base, I added a layer of patterned paper.  I cut each heart out of a different color from the Bold Glam Glitter Solids Paper Pack and attached them to the top of the card.  I stamped the sentiment using Jet Black ink.  For the finishing touch I added a few pearls.

The photo does not show that glitter paper off at all.  It is a very pretty sparkly paper without the mess of glitter.  I really do love it!

Stamp Set:  Layered Leopard - sentiment (Maymay Made It)
Ink:  Jet Black (Altenew)
Cardstock:  Petal Pink (Stampin' Up!)
Patterned Paper:  Nature Garden (Prima Marketing Inc.)
Dies:  Heart Frame (Cheapo Dies)
Other:  Pearl Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up)

Typrewriter Font Alphabet Dies

Hello and another Happy Friday to all of you!  Today I'm sharing a card I made using a new die from Cheapo Dies.  I'll be here every Friday to share a new die with you, so I hope to see you again soon.  In the meantime, be sure to take time to check out all the different dies that are available.  They are good quality and you just can't beat the price.  I know you'll love them as much as I.  You can find them HERE.

Today's card features the Typewriter Font Alphabet Dies.  With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I thought this would be a good time to use these dies.  I cut the letters out of the Bold Glam Glitter Solids paper pack.  It's glitter paper but without the mess.  I love it!  I placed them on a layer of red foil using Scotch Foam Tape.  This layer was glued to a white card base.  A simple card but pretty and shimmery.

Cardstock:  Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions); Bold Glam Glitter Solids (The Paper Studio)
Dies:  Typewriter Font Alphabet Dies (Cheapo Dies)

Happy Valentine's Day

It isn't often that I have the opportunity to combine three different challenges.  Today found me able to combine the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge, the Retro Rubber Challenge and The Paper Players Challenge.

For the card base I used Blushing Bride and added a layer of Whisper White.  The large hearts are punched from Real Red cardstock using the Sweetheart Punch.  The smaller hearts are punched from Blushing Bride cardstock and Pink Pirouette cardstock using the Small Heart Punch.  To the hearts I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  The sentiment is from the 2009 Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.

The sketch I used is from the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

I used the theme of hearts from the Retro Rubber Challenge.  For all the challenge details and to share your project, click the image below.

Simple Little Valentine

With Valentine's Day just a few weeks away, I've been getting busy and making cards for family and friends.  Here is a very simple but pretty card that is quick and easy to make.  I tend to use non-traditional colors but this would be very pretty in red and white.

Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics, Perpetual Birthday Calendar, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Night of Navy, Sweet Sugarplum; Cardstock:  Whisper White

My card has been entered in the Stampin' Royalty Challenge.  For all the challenge details, click the image below.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #102

It won't be long and Valentine's Day will be upon us.  With eleven grandchildren, I need to get busy.  Even the big kids love to get cards from Grandma.  This is the first of those eleven.

It's a Clean and Simple challenge this week.  Libby is hosting and has given us the theme of Love using red on white.  I think it makes for a pretty card even though I'm usually one who does more nontraditional colors.  I really like the way this one turned out.

Stamp Set:  Heart Balloons (My Favorite Things); Ink:  Red; Cardstock:  Real Red, Whisper White, Whisper White Think; Other:  Heart Balloons Dies, Staggered Heart Border Dies, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

For all the challenge details and to share your project, visit Watercooler Wednesday Challenges by clicking the image below.  We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday, January 23rd at 6:00 p.m. Central Time to link your project.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #99

It's our last Watercooler Wednesday Challenge of the year and it's my turn to host.  I'm hosting a Clean And Simple challenge this week but be sure you use those hearts.  I was ready to leave the Christmas cards behind and start on my Valentine's Day cards.  Here is the first of those I need to make.

We have made a change to our line up and are now featuring a CAS (Clean And Simple) challenge each month.  The rules for our Clean And Simple are very simple.  Create an uncluttered design with lots of open space and minimal layers and minimal embellishments.  It gives us a bit more leeway in creating those clean and simple designs.

Stamp Sets:  Jar of Love (tiny hearts),  Sunshine Sayings; Inks:  Night of Navy, Sweet Sugarplum; Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Sweet Sugarplum, Whisper White; Patterned Papers:  2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack; Other:  Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder (retired), Sunshine Wishes Dies, 1/4" White Ribbon

For all the challenge details and to share your project, visit Watercooler Wednesday Challenges by clicking the image below.  We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Central Time to link your project.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #54

This week I chose the Bouncing Brayer Technique for your Watercooler Wednesday challenge.  I love the look of it even though it can be somewhat messy to do.  Here are two great links with instructions on how to achieve the look.  The first one is from Kelly Achesonhttp://astampabove.typepad.com/my-blog/2007/06/tutorial-bouncing-brayer.html.  The second is from Charmaine Ikachhttp://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/bouncing_brayer/.

For the card base I used Real Red cardstock.  The patterned paper is from the Love Blooms Designer Series Paper Stack.  I love that paper!  On Whisper White I bounced the brayer in Real Red, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette inks.  The heart is cut from Pink Pirouette using the Hearts Framelits Dies.  The sentiment is from the Delight Dozen stamp set and I used Real Red ink.  I added some Real Red Home for Christmas Enamel Dots and placed a Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the center of the stamped heart.  It was fun to pull out some retired product for this card that's headed to my favorite oldest granddaughter.

Sky Is The Limit

Sunshine through my windows always makes me happy even when the temperatures are below freezing.  Some how, it never seems so bad when the sun is shining and the skies are blue.

With Valentine's Day approaching, I've been making cards to send to my grandchildren.  The Sky Is The Limit stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure, makes for a perfect guy card.  Yes, I use pink and rhinestones on my guy cards, especially for Valentine cards.  I've not had any complaints thus far.  :-)

The card base is Melon Mambo to which I added the stamped layer of Whisper White.  The plane is stamped using Tempting Turquoise and I added a little Real Red heart punched from the Owl Builder Punch.  I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of the hearts and under the sentiment.  The sentiment and smoke trail are stamped using Real Red.  The three little clouds are stamped using Melon Mambo.

The colors I used are from The Paper Players.

The Friday Mashup! Challenge #196 & Watercooler Challenges #17

With Valentine's Day just a few days away, I had time to make one last card that I needed.  My original idea was to do this in blues but the challenge over at The Friday Mashup was a perfect fit for what I had in mind.  We could create a project using the colors of red, white and pink or create a project using a love theme or do the mash up and create a love themed project using the challenge colors.  I used a lot of white and love how it turned out.  I think my oldest granddaughter will like it.

Stamp Sets:  Butterfly Basics, Pictogram Punches; Inks:  Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Pistachio Pudding, Real Red; Card Stock:  Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Corner Rounder Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, Pink & White Baker's Twine (American Crafts), SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals
All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

The inspiration for my card is from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

I've also added my card to the Watercooler Challenges.  It fit the Valentine challenge.  Be sure to check it out, too.

The Hearts Have It!

It's a busy day here for me so this is going to definitely be a very short post.  I wanted to share my heart card I made using the colors from the current Colour Me...! Challenge.  It's very dimensional which doesn't show up well in the photo.  I love that Pacific Point!

Freshly Made Sketches 168 Loves Color Throwdown 324

With Valentine's Day just over a month away and because it is just to frigid outside for me to want to even go any where, I'm almost done with the cards I plan to send to family and friends.  How's that for being ahead of the game!  This is a very clean and simple design and while you can see it in the photo, the white heart is raised to give just a bit of dimension to the card.  I love that new Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack!  Check it out in the new 2015 Occasions Catalog.

Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen (retired); Ink:  Real Red; Card Stock:  Red Glimmer Paper, Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools: Hearts Collection Framelits Dies, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

Retro Sketches 147

Here it is again after midnight and I'm still awake.  I had planned to call it a day sooner but got side tracked.  Now isn't that just the way it goes when you get an idea in your head that just won't let you go?  I've been wanting to take the trees from the White Christmas Stamp Set and add some hearts to them rather than leaves.  I used the little heart from the Holiday Home Stamp Set.  I think it made a cute Valentine's Day card.

Stamp Sets:  Holiday Home (heart), Pictogram Punches (sentiment), White Christmas (trees); Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Real Red; Card Stock:  Blushing Bride, Glitzy Glitter Card Stock Stack (DCWV), Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive

The sketch I used is from Retro Sketches.  You can find more inspiration and the challenge details HERE.

Lacy Butterfly Wishes

This week I'm concentrating on getting my Design Team cards made for January's Christmas Card Challenges but I'll still be playing along in some of my favorite challenges.  My Christmas cards go live every week on Sunday so I'll have plenty of time to share other projects with you.

I'm in a Valentine's Day card frenzy getting cards ready to post to my Etsy shop.  I've been kind of neglecting it lately.  I love the new Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack from Stampin' Up!®  One side has great colors for Valentine's Day and the other side is black and white with a Valentine theme.  I'll be sharing the black and white side in the days and weeks to come, too.  It's one of the new papers featured in the 2015 Occasions Catalog that comes out on January 6th.  If you'd like a copy, email me with your address (US addresses only) and I'll get one out to you.

Today's card was made using the great sketch from Retro Sketches.  I love and enjoy their sketches.  They really challenge me to step out of my box since I tend to be a bit clean and simple in my designs with few layers.  I'm beginning to realize that I like lots of layers.  :-)

Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics; Inks:  Real Red, Pistachio Pudding, Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Butterflies Thinlits Dies, 5/8" Whisper White Ribbon (from a Paper Pumpkin Kit), Pearls Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive
All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

Mojo Monday 377

It has been a busy few days and I've not spent much time in my craft studio.  I had such a good time with my family and was so glad that all of my boys were home this year.  It warms this mother's heart! Speaking of hearts, Valentine's Day is not so far off.  Here is a card showcasing some of the new Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack you'll find in the 2015 Occasions Catalog coming out on January 6th.

Stamp Sets:  Work of Art, Punch Potpourri (retired); Ink:  Real Red; Card Stock:  Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Hearts Collection Framelits Dies, Staggered Heart Border Die-Namics (My Favorite Things), Pearl Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Twas the day before Christmas

As you can see, my focus has changed from Christmas to Valentine's Day and the hearts have it.  I love the new Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack from Stampin' Up!®  It's one of the new products that will be available on January 6th but I thought you might like a sneak peek.  I can't wait to show you the new Occasions Catalog and the new Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  You are going to love them!

I loved the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch!  I stayed with Real Red and Whisper White as my main colors and added just a splash of Pistachio Pudding with the sequins and baker's twine.

Stamp Set:  Pictogram Punches; Ink:  Real Red; Card Stock:  Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Chalk Talk Framelits Dies, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker's Twine, 2013-2015 In Color Sequin Assortment, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals

Freshly Made Sketches 165

Will wonders never cease!  My plans for today changed which means I have more time to play in the craft studio.  Do I need to tell you just how happy that makes me?  No?  I didn't think so.  :-)

It's a beautiful day here and the sun shining through my window makes me so thankful that my craft studio is such a bright, cheerful place.  The desk is right under the window with the craft table to the left of it and, well, you get the idea.  It's the perfect place to put me in a happy mood!

For today, I've used the great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and I'm thinking ahead to the next big day we will celebrate, Valentine's Day.  The cut out heart makes a nice frame for the sentiment from the Banner Blessings Stamp Set.

Stamp Sets:  Banner Blessings, Gorgeous Grunge, Kinda Eclectic; Inks:  Pistachio Pudding, Rose Red, So Saffron; Card Stock:  Baby Girl Patterned Paper (DCWV), Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Elegant Butterfly Punch, Hearts Collection Framelits Dies, Pearl Basic Jewels, Dimensionals

The details for the Freshly Made Sketches can be found HERE.

Retro Sketches 141

Gotta hurry!  Can't be late!  Gotta very important date!  Well, it's true I do have a date and I would consider it important as it's our Christmas Gift Exchange for the local demo group I'm please to be a part of.  Granted it's only 2 p.m. and it doesn't start until 6:30 p.m. but I've been on the go all the day long and would relish an hour in the recliner with my feet up!  But, before that can happen, I wanted to share this card I made for the current Retro Sketches Challenge.

For the past several weeks I've been rather focused on Christmas cards and wanted to do something different.  What better than a Valentine's Day card, right?  When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to stay with the heart theme.

Stamp Set:  Heart Balloons (My Favorite Things); Ink:  Rose Red (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Rose Red, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Sweetheart Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Rhinestones

You can find the Retro Sketches Challenge HERE.

Pretty and Pink

Yes, it is possible to make a card without stamping an image or sentiment.  Will wonders never cease!  I know it's way to early for Valentine's Day but I was in the mood for something simple and different.  This sweet little design fit the bill perfectly.  It is not often I use pink so my friend, Heather, should be so pleased.

The sentiment was printed using an Inkssentials White Opaque Pen.  For the card base I used Pink Pirouette and Rose Red card stock from Stampin' Up!  The patterned paper is from Jillibean-Soup's Grandma's Lima Bean Soup.  Punches, dies, twine, eyelets and rhinestones finish it off.  The inside has a strip of the patterned paper with a Pink Pirouette heart attached to it.

Until next time...happy creating!
