Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop

Welcome to the September Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop!  Each month, on the third Thursday of the month, a group of us get together to hop and share projects from Stampin' Up!'s current catalogs.  It's always a lot of fun.  This month we are focusing on those products that first caught our eye when we had the chance to view the new Holiday Catalog.

You should be coming to my blog from the blog of Jan McQueen, a new addition to our hop.  After your visit with me, head on over to see what delights Fiona Whitehead has in store for you.  And, as always, our Hop runs in a circle.  Whether you start at the top and go forward or start at the bottom and go backward, you will always wind up where you started.

One of the stamp sets from the new Holiday Catalog that I knew I had to have was Christmas Magic.  I love all the stamps in this set and know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it.  My first card is one I made for my youngest granddaughter.  I put the snowman from Christmas Magic in one of the jars from the Jar of Love stamp set then, cut it out with the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies.  He is such a cute little snowman.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Magic, Jar of Love; Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Garden Green, Smoky Slate, Sweet Sugarplum, Tangerine Tango; Cardstock:  Emerald Envy, Shimmery White, Sweet Sugarplum; Other:  Everyday Jars Framelits Dies, Emerald Envy Baker's Baker Twine, Silver Gelly Roll Pen, Silver Sequin Trim, Softly Falling Embossing Folder

My next card also features the Christmas Magic stamp set.  I love this train image.  Reminds me of the one in the movie Polar Express.  My cards this year are mostly in non-traditional colors as you can see.  The only I colored on the train is the greenery and the bows and the gold ornaments.

Stamp Set:  Christmas Magic; Inks:  Archival Basic Black, Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum; Cardstock:  Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy, Shimmery White, Whisper White; Other:  Gold Gelly Roll Pen, Rhinestone Basic Jewels

My last card was made using the Father Christmas stamp set.  This set and the Christmas Magic set were my must haves from the Holiday Catalog.  I love them both.  I did this one in Dapper Denim and Crumb Cake with a touch of gold in the cording down the left side.

Stamp Set:  Father Christmas; Ink:  Crumb Cake; Cardstock:  2016-2018 In Color Designer Paper Stack, Dapper Denim, Crumb Cake, Whisper White; Other:  Gold Cording

  1. Marsha, I also ordered the Christmas Magic set and love it. I was also thinking the cute little snowman would be great in the jar! Thanks for showing just how perfect it fits!

Each of your projects are wonderful - as usual!

  3. Great projects with the Christmas project set Marcia. I am in love with that train image. It reminds me of the Polar Express too. I love how you've paired yours with the DSP and only coloured a few details on the image. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Marsha I love the non-traditional look of your cards! What a great idea to have the pink and green together for your grand-daughter. She'll love that as well as the snowman captive in the jar. The Christmas Magic train is simply magical with that assortment of colours you've used. Love it even if the colours are unconventional. I think that adds to the "magic". And that Father Christmas card--such a wonderful mix of modern and vintage. Combining a coloured frame with such neutral stamped images was brilliant. Thanks so much for the great ideas.

  6. Such beautiful projects, Marsha! I too love your non - traditional colour choices to give a modern twist on these lovely traditional images. Your snowman in a jar is simply genius and I love the frame you've added to your steam train card and the gorgeous twine bow on your sweet Santa card. So pretty! x

    1. Thanks, Jan! To be honest, non-traditional colors was not intentional, it just happened but I do like the results and may stick with the theme.

  7. Like you, Marsh, the Father Christmas and Christmas Magic were the first stamps I ordered on pre order. Your cards are so pretty. You always seem to add just the right embellishments. Silly me, I buy them and then don't use them. Thanks for your great projects.

    1. Thanks, Christine! I'm never sure how to embellish sometimes so just do it and hope for the best. :-)

  8. Your granddaughter is sure to love her little snowman in a jar - so cute! But I am totally in love with your Christmas Magic and Father Christmas cards! The minimal coloring on your train makes it even more effective. And your Crumb Cake stamping and layering it on Dapper Denim makes for a modern, vintage (is there such a thing?) feel...just a perfect combination. As always, I love your creations!

    1. Thanks, Priscilla! She will be thirteen on Christmas day but soon I'm afraid she will outgrow the cutesy cards and want more adult type ones.
