Watercooler Challenge #25

This week's Watercooler Challenge is full of beautiful colors.  I decided to draw my inspiration from those colors.  This was my first chance to use a new stamp set that is in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.  You'll be able to see it on June 2nd.  You are definitely going to love it!

This set is You've Got This.  I love that great background stamp, don't you?  For the flower, I did a bit of paper piecing.  First I stamped the image on Mossy Meadow and cut it out.  Next, I stamped the image on Cajun Craze and fussy cut just the flower and layered it over the Mossy Meadow layer.  And, that embossed layer, it's the new Boho Chic Embossing Folder.  The new product is just a sneak peek and I've noted that in the product list below.

Stamp Sets:  Kinda Eclectic, You've Got This (sneak peek); Inks:  Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon (sneak peek), Elegant Eggplant, Mossy Meadow, Tip Top Taupe (sneak peek); Stampin' Write Marker:  Crushed Curry; Card Stock:  Cajun Craze, Elegant Eggplant, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Boho Chic Embossing Folder (sneak peek), Elegant Butterfly Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Tangelo Twist Thick Baker's Twine, Ovals Collection Framelits, Pearl Basic Jewels, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

You'll find Kath's lovely inspiration photo and all the challenge details at Watercooler Challenges.

Butterfly Love you

Remember that Lotus Blossom stamp set from Sale-A-Bration?  Remember the cool little tabs it had to help you align the images easily when you stamped them?  Well, have I got news for you!  The new Floral Wings Hostess stamp set has those same little tabs.  It makes it absolutely a breeze to stamp the flowers and leaves within the butterfly.  You have got to try it!

The vine from the Floral Wings stamp set is actually a bit curvy but the beauty of photopolymer stamps is you can change the orientation of some of them.  I straightened out the vine to eliminate the curves to make a picture frame for my Lost Lagoon butterfly.  This one is all stamping and a way to showcase the challenge colors with just a bit of embellishment with the rhinestones.  I love how it turned out.  I even managed to use all of the colors from the challenge.

Lydia Fiedler has a great video on how she uses the Floral Wings stamp set.  It's exactly how I stamped my images and it was so easy.  Just click on her name to watch her video.  Thanks, Lydia!

Stamp Sets:  Crazy about You, Floral Wings (sneak peek); Inks:  Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Lost Lagoon, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Rhinestone Basic Jewels, SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer

The gorgeous colors I used are from the current Colour Me...! Challenge.

The Paper Players Challenge #246

Don't you just love it when an order arrives full of new product?  Today I have more sneak peeks for you.  Again, I've noted them in the product list under the photo.  I showcased three of the new 2015-2017 In Colors; Cucumber Crush, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder.  I'm surprising myself by using them since I wasn't sure I was going to like them.  It is a woman's prerogative to change her mind, right?  And, the tiny pearl in the Pearl Basic Jewels, fits right in the center of those cute little Blossom Accents.

Stamp Set:  Floral Wings (sneak peek); Inks:  Crumb Cake, Cucumber Crush (sneak peek), Tip Top Taupe (sneak peek), Watermelon Wonder (sneak peek); Card Stock:  Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (sneak peek), Tip Top Taupe (sneak peek), Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Ovals Collection Framelits, 2015-2017 In Color Blossom Accents (sneak peek), Pearl Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

Butterflies and Lace

Well, I started out to use some of my antique tatted lace but couldn't find it.  That doesn't surprise me given the fact that I've got the craft studio along with every other room in my house torn apart.  I've been sorting and rearranging and putting things in order.  That's what your supposed to do come Spring, right?  Anyway, I did find this white lace butterfly applique that I've had in my stash for years.  What you can't see in the photo is that I covered the butterfly with Dazzling Details and it has some pretty sparkle to it.

You know, I think that new Cucumber Crush is going to make a great green for Christmas this year.  Hmmm?  It looks really good with the new Watermelon Wonder.  Would you say two new colors for the holidays?

Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics; Inks:  Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder; Card Stock:  Mint Macaron, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Lace Butterfly Applique, Dazzling Details, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The theme I used is from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

Butterflies and Grace

So much to do and so little time in which to do it!  Now that I have a car that I can actually take off and drive at any given time, I seem to always be on the run.  In about ten minutes I'm off to run some more errands which means I only have time for a very short post.  Here is the card I made for a couple of my favorite challenges, Freshly Made Sketches and Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light.  Bye for now!

Retro Sketches Challenge #165

Today has me sharing my last Father's Day card.  This one was made with my youngest son, Michael, in mind.  He is my handyman and although he is a project manager at a local business, he still likes to get his hands dirty.  One of his gifts is the ability to figure out what is wrong with a car and fix it.  Wayne, his oldest brother, calls him the Spock of cars because he can put his hand on the car, mind meld with it and figure out the problem.

When I needed a different car, Mike started looking around for one while I started saving my pennies to fund the project.  Lo and behold, he found a Ford Escort LX station wagon that had a blown engine.  Since the engine in my Ford Escort LX sedan was in perfect running order, he swapped out the engines.  Now I have the sweetest little red station wagon that will take me anywhere I want to go.  The beauty of it all is, I have no car payments!  Sweeeeet!  I am so blessed!

For my card, I used up some of the scraps that were left from other projects.  I love being able to use them up.  The new 2015-2016 Annual Catalog is coming out on June 2nd with new colors and new papers and, well, lots of new products.  Here is a sneak peek at Tip Top Taupe, one of the new 2015-2017 In Colors and the new 6 x 6 Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack.

Stamp Set:  Crazy about You; Ink:  Tip Top Taupe (sneak peek); Card Stock:  Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (sneak peek), Tip Top Taupe, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Mustache Framelits Die (retiring), Scallop Edge Punch (retiring), Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

Happy Father's Day

Two down and only one more to go!  The colors from the Colour Me...! Challenge were perfect for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.  I love that Bermuda Bay.  It's bright and cheerful and looks really well with So Saffron and there is just a hint of Pear Pizzazz that I used for the sentiment.  So, there you have it for this time.  I know, it's the second one for today but I'm playing catch with up with some of my favorite challenges.  Hopefully, tomorrow will see me back on a normal schedule.  I'll share my last Father's Day card with you then.

Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; Ink:  Pear Pizzazz; Card Stock:  Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, So Saffron, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Stars Framelits, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The Friday Mashup Challenge #209

It's coming down to the wire and I finally got my card made for The Friday Mashup!  For this challenge, we could make a project using the colors of Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Night of Navy or create a project for "Celebrations" or create a project that put them all together for a mashup!  I love to mash it up!

Since I'm headed out to sing in the rain while I run some errands, this is going to be a short post simply to share my card with you.  I really like how this turned out.  I didn't need any more graduation cards at this time since everyone has already ordered them but I do need three Father's Day cards for my boys.  This one will be headed to my oldest son who is overseas at this time.  I regularly send him cards but I like to keep them very simple with minimal embellishments.  This one will be perfect.  Now I only need to come up with cards for the two sons who live close by.

Stamp Sets:  Best Day Ever (retired), Build a Bouquet (retiring), Crazy about You, Gorgeous Grunge; Inks:  Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy; Card Stock:  Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer

The colors and theme are from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

Sunday Christmas Card Challenges # 24

A card with no stamping means a card without ink.  For this week's Christmas Card Challenges, I decided to pull the colors out of the inspiration photo and use my pretty Graphic 45 patterned paper called Time to Flourish.  This is some of the December papers included in the paper pad.

Stamps:  None; Inks:  None; Copic Marker:  YG17; Card Stock:  Garden Green, Nana's Nursery (DCWV), Time to Flourish (Graphic 45), Whisper White (card base); Accessories & Tools:  Pearl Basic Jewels, Bead Trim (unknown), Dimensionals, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer.  All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

Watercooler Challenges #24

Hello and welcome to our next Watercooler Challenge.  Stefanie has provided us a very cool sketch and I had fun playing around with it.  As you can see, I changed the square to a rectangle so I could stack some ice cream on that cone!  The stamp set I used is the new Ronald McDonald set that will be available in the new 2015-2016 Annual Catalog coming out on June 2nd.  There is also a punch that coordinates with the stamp set.  It's the Tree Builder Punch.  The new catalog is full of some great new stamps, dies, paper and so much more.  You're going to love it!

Stamp Set:  Sprinkles of Life; Inks:  Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Watermelon Wonder; Card Stock:  Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White, Very Vanilla; Accessories & Tools:  Tree Builder Punch, Word Window Punch, Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer.  All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge #238

Yesterday I started my ritual spring housing cleaning with a little help from my favorite oldest granddaughter, Bailey.  I wanted to redo my craft studio/bedroom.  Take some things out and put some new things in.  Unfortunately, we ran into a snag.  The project needed more time than what Bailey had available so we postponed the major overhaul until next week.  Fortunately, the craft table was the first area to be put back together again.  I was so happy about that because I was able to get my card done for the current Our Daily Bread Designs Shining Light Challenge!

As you can see, I did change the sketch up just a bit.  I made a circle layer and placed it over the ribbon, banner layer.  I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the doily then, cut out the center, adhered it to a circle of Elegant Eggplant and put it over the big hole in the doily.  :-)  And, there you have it.  I love how these colors all work so well together.

Stamp Set:  Key to Heaven; Ink:  Elegant Eggplant; Card Stock:  Elegant Eggplant, Mint Macaron (sneak peek), Secret Garden Patterned Paper (Graphic 45); Accessories & Tools:  Boho Chic Embossing Folder (sneak peek), Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Circles Collection Framelits Dies, Metal Key (Blue Moon Beads), Paper Doily, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Mossy Meadow 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon (retiring) Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Snail Adhesive

The Wacky Watercooler May "Retirement Blues" Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to our current blog hop!  This time around we are saying goodbye to some of our favorites but we wanted to share them with you one last time before they are gone.  The retiring list has arrived and there are so many things I am going to miss but, as you know, our new Stampin' Up!® 2015-2016 Annual Catalog will be out on June 2.  Yes, you are going to love it!

And, just a note, in the product list I made for each project, I've noted whether it is retiring or can be found in the Clearance Rack.

My original plan was to make all of my projects in shades of blue but I just couldn't do it.  The 2013-2015 In Colors that are retiring were just too hard to overlook.  I did keep it to shades of blue for my first card.  One of my favorite stamp sets is the Bloom with Hope.  It's one of the current hostess sets and I'm really going to miss it.  I've used it for many projects.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope (retiring), Label Love (retiring), Work of Art; Inks:  Night of Navy, Soft Sky; Card Stock:  Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack (retiring), Night of Navy, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Artisan Label Punch (retiring), 3/8" Lost Lagoon Silky Taffeta Ribbon (clearance rack), Pearls Basic Jewels, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer

For my next project, I got a little bent out of shape.  I bent the front of the card over and added the square of color with the flower and pretty paper.  This time I stayed with mostly retiring In Colors and inks.  Saying goodbye to that Baked Brown Sugar is going to be so very hard.  And, the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set with all of it's neat flowers.  Sigh...

Stamp Sets:  Four You (retiring), Petal Potpourri (retiring); Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar (retiring), Strawberry Slush (retiring); Card Stock:  All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack (retiring), Strawberry Slush (retiring), Very Vanilla; Accessories & Tools:  Flower Medallion Punch, Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker's Twine (retiring), Pearl Basic Jewels, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Glue Dots, Stampin' Trimmer

My last project is a tribute to all the retiring products from the current 2014-2015 Annual Catalog.  The flowers were made using the Boho Blossom Punch, which is retiring this year, too.  I punched out a bunch, then layered them and added a pearl accent to the center of each flower.  For a sneak peek of the new Boho Chic Embossing Folder makes up the Pool Party Core'dinations layer against the Baked Brown Sugar card base.

Stamp Sets:  Four Frames (retiring), Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar (retiring), Coastal Cabana (retiring), Crisp Cantaloupe (retiring), Pool Party Core'dinations (clearance rack), Wild Wasabi; Accessories & Tools:  Boho Blossoms Punch (retiring), Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine (retiring), Boho Chic Embossing Folder (sneak peek), Pearl Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer

Retro Sketches #164

Can you say star-studded!  For some reason I had a star theme going on this one.  I was playing around with the new 2015-2017 In Colors.  They are Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder.  I was wondering how they would all look together.  Well, now I know.  The Watermelon Wonder looks a bit too orange in the photo.  That could be due to the late hour and another bulb out in one of the lights I use with my light tent.  All in all I think they look well together.  The striped paper is from the new Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack.

Stamp Sets:  Bloom with Hope - sentiment (retiring), Perpetual Birthday Calendar - stars; Inks:  Tip Top Taupe (sneak peek), Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Blackberry Bliss, Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (sneak peek), Mint Macaron, Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe; Accessories & Tools:  Modern Label Punch (retiring), Confetti Stars Border Punch, Stampin' Trimmer, Snail Adhesive, Dimensionals

The sketch I used is from the current Retro Sketches Challenge.

A Bright Birthday!

It's just a short post for you today.  I've been busy getting projects done for the Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop which starts tonight at 8:00 p.m. CDT.  It's all about our favorites that are retiring come June 2nd.  Be sure to stop back and see what we have in store for you.  You may see your favorite or something you hadn't thought about and have now decided you have to have it!

One of the things I like most about patterned papers is the ability to let it be front and center of a card design.  It makes is so easy to put a card together when you really need one fast.  This is one of those found in the new Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack that will be in the new 2015-2016 Annual Catalog.  It's coming out June 2nd and it is full of fantastic new product.  If you need your very own copy of the catalog, please e-mail me with your mailing address and I'll see that you get one.  You're going to love it!

Stamp Set:  One Tag Fits All; Inks:  Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz; Card Stock:  Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (sneak peek); Accessories & Tools:  Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker's Twine (retiring), Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Snail Adhesive, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer

A Parade of Pretty Flowers

Last Friday I received some very pretty flowers for Mother's Day from my youngest son, Michael, his wife, Jody and their boys, Zachary and Nicholas.  Since then it has been so much fun to watch them continue to bloom.  The first picture was taken on the first day just after I put them in the vase.  From there you can see the progression of the blooms.  One of the lilies is huge!  Oh, and the living room smells wonderful!  It was a wonderful Mother's Day.  All three of my boys sent texts wishing me a great day and my oldest son, Wayne, called me all the way from Afghanistan.  He'll be coming home for a visit in July and I can't wait to see him.
