Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #336

It's time for a new sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  For this one, I just had to stick with the butterflies.  As you can see, I pretty much followed the exact design.  I thought it was  perfect for a clean and simple card.

Butterflies

Hello and a Happy Friday to everyone!  Today I'm sharing a card I made using a new die from Cheapo Dies.  I'll be here every Friday to share a new die with you so I hope to see you again.  In the meantime, be sure to take time to check out all the different dies they have available.  You can see them HERE.

Today I'm featuring the new Butterflies Die.  They are just the right size for a card and I love the detail.  I created a background on watercolor paper using Brusho Crystals.  Then, I stamped flower silhouettes and the Hello and added the butterflies.  There are actually four butterflies in this set of dies but I decided to use just the three on this card.

Stamp Set:  Secret Garden Collage (TPC Studio)
Ink:  Earl Grey (Taylored Expressions)
Brusho Crystals:  Moss Green, Brilliant Blue, Yellow, Emerald Green, Gamboge
Cardstock:  Basic Gray, Pineapple Punch, Blueberry Bushel, Pumpkin Pie (Stampin' Up!); Watercolor Paper (Strathmore)
Other:  Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

If you are not familiar with Cheapo Dies and would like to know more, here's where you can go to check them out.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #254

Hello and welcome to another sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Today's card was so much fun to make.  I flipped the sketch so that I could use the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set as it is one of my favorite sentiments.  And, I used pinks, which, if you know me well, is something I rarely do on a card.  I rather like the way this one turned out.

Stamp Sets:  Butterfly Basics - sentiment (Stampin' Up!), Simply Stamped - Butterflies (Taylored Expressions); Inks:  Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette (Stampin' Up!), Poppy Seed (Taylored Expressions); Cardstock:  Melon Mambo (Stampin' Up!), Sugar Cube (Taylored Expressions); Dies:  Simply Stamped - Butterflies Dies (Taylored Expressions); Other:  Chicken Wire Embossing Folder (Taylored Expressions), Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops (Tonic Studios)

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #130 - Gail's Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week is our Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge.  I've made another card for my note card stash.  I like to keep several on hand and whenever I think of someone, I grab a card, write a wee bit of a note and send it off to let them know I've been thinking of them.

If I told you all the things that went wrong while I was making this card, you'd be shaking your head, too.  But, all in all, I think it turned out rather well.  What say you?

Stamp Set:  Anemones - sentiment (Flourishes); Ink:  Fossilized Amber Oxide(Tim Holtz by Ranger) , Spiced Marmalade (Tim Holtz by Ranger), Jet Black StazOn; Cardstock:  Basic Black, Peekaboo Peach (both Stampin' Up!), Watercolor Paper (Strathmore); Other:  Butterflies Thinlits Dies (Stampin' Up!), Simply Stamped - Butterflies (Taylored Expressions), Belle Brocade Stencil (Layers of Color), Light Modeling Paste (Liquitex), Pearl Basic Jewels

Butterfly Thank You

When I saw the simplicity of the sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the bright colors from the Color Throwdown challenge, I knew the combination of the two was going to cheer me up this dreary, rainy day.  I must say it did!  And, it was a given that I'd use butterflies.

The Tempting Turquoise layer was first stamped with VersaMark using the spatters from the Avant Garden stamp set.  I added it to a card base of Whisper White Thick cardstock.  I punched the larger butterfly from Tangerine Tango and Vellum using the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Then, I punched the small butterfly from Daffodil Delight and Vellum using the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  I adhered the Vellum butterflies onto the same size colored ones and added a few Pearl Basic Jewels to cover the line of glue you could see through the Vellum. The sentiment is from the Rose Garden stamp set and stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenges #109

It's a color challenge this week at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges and our host, Heidi, has chosen a great combination of colors.

My card base is Basic Black as is the layer that I added images stamped in Whisper White Craft ink from the Timeless Textures stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set onto Whisper White using Basic Black Archival ink, then punched it out using the Decorative Label Punch.  The Pool Party butterflies were cut using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die.  I've not used that in a while and had forgotten just how nice those butterflies look.  The Island Indigo butterflies were punched using the Bitty Butterfly Punch and the Elegant Butterfly Punch.

Before attaching the label and all the butterflies, I added a piece of 1/4" Island Indigo Ribbon to the bottom of the stamped layer.  I randomly glued the butterflies in place and added Pearl Basic Jewels to the center of each butterfly.  The label was popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.

One thing I should share with you is that I used Whisper White instead of the Very Vanilla as stated on the graphic.  When looking at the graphic, I saw white and used white.  I didn't do a very good job of reading the colors, did I?

Butterflies

The sketch from the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge was perfect for the CAS-ual Fridays color challenge.  I love the way the butterflies line up on the card.  I had planned to pop all of them up which is why I punched all the bitty butterflies out but changed my mind and decided the only one that needed popped up was the Watermelon Wonder butterfly.

Stamp Sets:  Jar of Love (sentiment), Papillon Potpourri; Inks:  Basic Black Archival, Watermelon Wonder; Cardstock:  Whisper White; Other:  Bitty Butterfly Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels

Butterfly Trio

What do you get when you combine two great challenges, butterflies and the Inlaid Die Cut Technique?  A very pretty 5" x 5" card that is destined for my favorite oldest granddaughter who recently moved to Reno, Nevada.  To clarify, I have two granddaughters so I have a favorite oldest and a favorite youngest.  And, to further clarity, I have seven grandsons who are all my favorites.  :-)

For this card, I combined the Retrosketches Challenge sketch with Hayley's colors from the Colour Me...! Challenge.  I have really taken to the Inlaid Die Cut Technique.  It's fun and really quite easy to do.

Stamp Sets:  Butterfly Basics, Kinda Eclectic, Nature's Perfection; Inks:  Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Sahara Sand; Cardstock:  Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Sahara Sand, Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Woodland Embossing Folder, Elegant Butterfly Punch, 2" Circle Punch, Circle Collection Framelits Dies, Mint Macaron 1" Dotted Lace Trim, Pearl Basic Jewels, SNAIL Permanent Adhesive, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

The sketch I used is from the Retrosketches Challenge.

Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #35

Hi, hello and welcome to an "Anything Goes" challenge at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges.  It was my turn to pick something for our challenge and I love the "anything goes" since you can do anything!  Make a card, a scrapbook page, home decor or something 3-D.  It's all up to you.  So let you imaginations run wild and show us what "anything goes" means to you.

Since the holiday season is fast approaching, my thoughts are on what new things I can make for family and friends for gifts.  One of the things I'm working on are these sparkly 3-D butterflies.  They are going to adorn gift bags that I'm making for my daughters-in-law.  Although it is hard to see in the photo, sparkly never does well for me in photos, each butterfly is covered with Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder.  They're fun to make even if a bit messy.  Well, maybe not messy for you but I seem to have to make sure I spill the Iridescent Ice every time I use it.  :-)

Cardstock:  Blackberry Bliss, Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper, Real Red, Very Vanilla; Accessories & Tools:  Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss Powder, Fast Fuse Adhesive, Tear & Tape Adhesive, Heat Tool, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

You can find more inspiration and challenge details at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges.
Don't you just love this fun graphic Heidi found for the challenge!?  I know I do!

Butterflies and Lace

Well, I started out to use some of my antique tatted lace but couldn't find it.  That doesn't surprise me given the fact that I've got the craft studio along with every other room in my house torn apart.  I've been sorting and rearranging and putting things in order.  That's what your supposed to do come Spring, right?  Anyway, I did find this white lace butterfly applique that I've had in my stash for years.  What you can't see in the photo is that I covered the butterfly with Dazzling Details and it has some pretty sparkle to it.

You know, I think that new Cucumber Crush is going to make a great green for Christmas this year.  Hmmm?  It looks really good with the new Watermelon Wonder.  Would you say two new colors for the holidays?

Stamp Set:  Butterfly Basics; Inks:  Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder; Card Stock:  Mint Macaron, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Lace Butterfly Applique, Dazzling Details, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The theme I used is from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

It's a Celebration!

One of my favorite challenges is The Friday Mashup!  It has been a great boost to my creativity as many times the challenges take me outside my little box and get me to do something I haven't done before.  They are celebrating their 200th challenge and this one was such fun.  I really enjoyed going back through previous challenges and finding the ones that I wanted to use for this special challenge.

I used the Butterflies with Dimension from FM01 (the very first challenge) and the Black, White and Square from FM03.  It was fun to try to use as many elements as I could from both challenges.

Stamp Sets:  Nature's Perfection, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Elegant Butterfly Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Adhesive Sheets (Scrapbook Adhesives), Dimensionals, Simply Scored Stylus, Paper-Piercing Mat

You can find all the details for the current challenge over at The Friday Mashup!

Butterfly Thank You

It's a new day.  It's a cold day.  It's another good day to stay inside and make beautiful things!  Today I actually did have to brave the cold and venture out.  Fortunately, it was a short round trip and spent mostly in the car for which I am truly grateful.

I had started this card last night but decided I needed to catch up on some sleep rather than stay up most of the night creating.  I must say it was a wise decision.  I'm well rested and finished up this card in no time given I was struggling to get it done.  I love these colors together and was please to see that Pals Paper Arts was featuring them in their current challenge.  I used the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I think they came together well, don't you?

Stamp Sets:  Butterfly Basics, Painted Petals (sentiment); Inks:  Island Indigo, Pool Party; Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper, Pool Party, Soft Sky, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Banner Punch, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Pearl Basic Jewels, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

The colors are from the Pals Paper Arts challenge.  You can find out more HERE.

Beautiful Butterflies

From flowers to butterflies.  Both papers came from one of the new paper pads I picked up the other day.  I just love the colors!  I'm playing along with another challenge.  This one is from Fusion Card Challenge.  You have the option of using just the sketch, just the inspiration photo or both to create fusion!  I always like to try to do both.  It's fun to see if I can manage to bring the two together.

Stamp:  Happy Birthday (Stampabilities); Ink:  VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad; Card Stock:  Whisper White, Melon Mambo (Stampin' Up!), Ki Color Crush Paper Pad (Hampton Art); Accessories & Tools:  Beautiful Wings Embosslits, 3/8" Old Olive Striped Organdy Ribbon, Pear Basic Jewels, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

This is the sketch I used from the Fusion Card Challenge.
