Welcome to our March Madness Blog Hop. This month we're featuring some Fancy Folds. There are so many ways to fold a card that it was hard to choose the ones I wanted to make. I finally narrowed it down to three but could have filled a couple of pages of the ones that intrigued me.
As always, our Blog Hop runs in a circular fashion. No matter where in the list of participants you begin, inevitably you'll wind up in the exact same place you began if you keep going to the "next" blog. And, should you feel the need to start at the very beginning, you can go to the Wacky Watercooler Stamping Blog and work your way through from first to last. But the circle never ends so you can go round and round as many times as you like.
For my first card I chose the Pleated Skirt Fold. I've been seeing this done a lot and really like the look of it. The tutorial I used is from Becky Roberts; http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/pleatedskirtfold/?utm_medium=Email&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_campaign=.
My card base is Very Vanilla. The patterned paper is from the Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper. The Blushing Bride flower was punched using the Flower Medallion Punch. The Pink Pirouette flower was cut using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. I used an Antique Brad for the center of the flower. What you can't see is the pretty shimmer I added to the flowers using a Clear Wink of Stella Brush. The sentiment if from the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set and stamped using Basic Black Archival ink. A few Pearl Basic Jewels and it was all done. It's a very quick and easy card to make but I love that pleated look.

I started with a card base of Hello Honey. Then, added a layer of Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper to the right side. The labels are cut from Cajun Craze and Whisper White using the retired Labels Collection Framelits Dies. Those are my favorites and while I do have the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies, sometimes they just don't have the look I'm going for. I cut two flowers out of Mint Macaron using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. The other flowers were cut from the other side of the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper. The dies fit over the flowers perfectly, too. It's Hello Honey but has a pattern to it and made some very nice flowers. The little flowers on the front are from the Botanical Blooms and stamped in Cajun Craze and Mint Macaron ink. The sentiment is from the Good Greetings stamp set and stamped using Basic Black Archival ink. On the other side of the flap, I stamped the sentiment from Botanicals for You in Basic Black Archival ink. I placed the flowers and stems on one clear block and stamped them using Cajun Craze and Mint Macaron. For a little sparkle, I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
For my final project I made a Double Gate-Fold card. For this one, I followed this tutorial from Dawn Olchefske; http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/doublegatefoldcard/?utm_medium=Email&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_campaign=. Her tutorials are always easy to follow.
For the card base I used a sheet of the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper. I need a masculine card so I used the Crumb Cake. On the Whisper White layer I stamped the background from the You've Got This stamp set in Crumb Cake ink. Over that I stamped the deer image from the In the Meadow stamp set in Early Espresso ink. The little butterflies and the sentiment are from the In the Meadow stamp set and stamped in Lost Lagoon. The layer behind the stamped layer is Crumb Cake. The circles are cut from Early Espresso and Crumb Cake using the Circle Collection Framelits Dies. The sentiments on the Crumb Cake circle are from the Rose Wonder stamp set and the In the Meadow stamp set. I stamped them both using Early Espresso ink. After I stamped it, I embossed it using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder. I added some Early Espresso Baker's Twine and it is loose enough it slides off so the inside of the card can be seen.
