Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 285

My Labor Day was filled with making cards and scheduling posts.  How's that for "labor of love" on a holiday?  :-)  It was fun to devote my whole day to getting projects made for my Design Team commitments and for various other challenges that I enjoy.  It was a beautiful, late summer day with sunshine, blue skies and puffy white clouds floating around.  After lasts night heavy rains it was a welcome relief.

Here is the card I made for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  As you can see, I took the sketch literally.  It gave me the perfect opportunity to use one of my favorite photopolymer stamp sets called Banner Blessings.

Stamp Set:  Banner Blessings; Ink:  Night of Navy; Card Stock:  Gold Foil Sheets, Night of Navy, Soft Sky, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Star Confetti Border Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Star Framelits Dies, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer.  All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

The sketch I used is from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

Can't Thank You Enough

Where does the time go when you are having fun?  I sat down to make a card and suddenly it is after 2 a.m.  Something tells me I really need to set an alarm when I start crafting given this is not the first time this has happened.  It used to be reading all night long, now it's card designs that keep me awake at night.  Good thing I'm retired, right?

Today I've combined the colors from The Paper Players Challenge with the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I kept it a very clean and simple design as I do with most of the cards I need to put in the mail.  I love the 2013-2015 In Colors and I'm going to be very sad to see them retire in just a few short weeks.

Stamp Sets:  Lovely Amazing You (sentiment), Petal Potpourri (flower); Inks:  Coastal Cabana, Tuxedo Black Memento; Card Stock:  All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Flower Medallion Punch, Large Pearl, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Stampin' Trimmer

The colors I used are from the current Paper Players Challenge.

Fab Friday 54 and Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 244

Well, here I am again playing with leftovers to see what I can come up with.  It still amazes me that I start a project, have an idea in the middle of it and go off on a totally different track.  No wonder I have all of these extra bits and pieces.

For this card I combined the colors from Fab Friday Challenge Blog and the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  When I first got the Hardwood background stamp, I stamped a bunch of them using different card stock and inks.  I was looking for a certain look for a different project and it only took me five different tries to get it right.  :-)  Today's card uses the one I stamped with Blackberry Bliss ink onto Very Vanilla card stock.

Stamp Sets:  Four You, Hardwood; Ink:  Blackberry Bliss; Card Stock:  Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack; Accessories & Tools:  Top Note Bigz Die, Circle Collection Framelits Dies, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, SNAIL Adhesive, Dimensionals, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

You can find the Fab Friday color challenge HERE.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 240

It's been a while since I've played along with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  With the holidays fast approaching, I decided to do a Thanksgiving card but a rather none traditional one.  Usually you think of Autumn colors for this time of year but I decided to go for a cooler look as in the weather has been cold where I live.  Rainy, windy and just plain gloomy.  I'm so not ready for Winter!

Stamp Set:  For All Things; Inks:  Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky; Card Stock:  All Is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper, Crumb Cake, Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky; Accessories & Tools:  Circles Collection Framelits, Frosted Sequins, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Sticky Strip, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

You can find the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge sketch HERE, if you'd like to play along.

With Sympathy

So, what are you doing while you wait for the total eclipse of the moon?  Me?  Why, I'm making cards and entering challenges and having ever so much fun in my craft studio.  It's now after midnight so I don't have long to wait for the event to begin to unfold.  Fortunately, we have a clear sky tonight.  In the meantime, here is the card I made for two challenges; The Paper Players Color Challenge and the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

Stamp Sets:  Secret Garden, Mixed Bunch, Flower Shop and Teeny Tiny Wishes (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral and Always Artichoke (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Basic White (Darice), Always Artichoke and Etcetera Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Stripes Embossing Folder, Secret Garden Framelits, Blossom Punch, Pansy Punch and Pearl Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

The colors I used followed the The Paper Players Color Challenge.

Laughter in Lavendar and Black

It's another late night in my craft studio.  That's what happens when you go shopping instead of working on new projects.  The good thing is I have some pretty new papers to use and everything needed to finish a mixed media project I started yesterday.  With another winter storm on it's way that could dump another three to six inches of snow all over me today, I'll have plenty of time to play in my studio.  But, on to the new card I created for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

Stamp Set:  Wallpaper and Wood CMS126 (Tim Holtz Collection); Ink:  Gesso (Ranger); Card Stock:  Basic Black (Stampin' Up!), Violet Crush (KaiserCraft); Accessories & Tools:  Platinum Pearls Liquid Pearls (Ranger), Stampin' Dimensionals (Stampin' Up!), Rhinestones

Can you believe there is no ink used on this?  I used Gesso to cover my stamp then, stamped it on the black card stock.  It makes for a very cool looking background.  I can't wait to try it with some other background stamps I rarely use.

Here is the sketch I used from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

Crushed Curry Birthday

Okay, time again for a very short post.  For some reason time got away from me today and I've not been able to catch up with it.  Since I wanted to participate in the current Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and since the deadline is tomorrow, I figured I should stay up a bit past my bedtime and show you the card I made.

I loved the white on white card that Karen made with the very cool Staggered Heart Border Die.  So, I used the white on white but did some stamping and used the Happy Birthday Die for my card.  Both dies are from My Favorite Things.  The last time my friend Heather and I stamped together, I cut out a couple of  happy birthdays, one in Bermuda Bay and one in Crushed Curry.  As you can see, I used the Crushed Curry.

I stamped the lines in Bermuda Bay from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set which are both from Stampin' Up!®   I popped up the layer with some Stampin' Dimensionals and I was done.  Now that's what I call a quick and easy,  clean and simple kind of card.  I like it.

Here is the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

Petite Petals Sympathy

For today's card, I used the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I find when I have a limited amount of time available to create, that a sketch allows me to make a project in no time at all.  I've been wanting to use the new Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape from Stampin' Up! since I got it but just didn't have any ideas in mind.  This sketch was a perfect showcase for it.

Stamp Sets:  Petite Petals, God's Blessings - retired (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar, Smoky Slate (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up!), Sunshine Paper Pad (My Mind's Eye); Accessories & Tools:  Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape, Pearl Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals (Stampin' Up!)

Now here is the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge that I used.  You can click on the image below to head over to the blog for all the details about the challenge.

Old Guys Rule Birthday

Here we go again with another birthday card.  Do you know how hard it is to come up with a guy card?  You'd think it would come easy for me given I have more guys in my life than gals.  Three sons, three brothers, seven grandsons and that is not counting the brothers-in-law.  Whew!  With two more February birthday cards to make, I am so glad only one is another guy card.

I am playing along with two challenges this time.  I didn't see on either that I couldn't combine so I'm hoping I didn't overlook something.  The colors from the ColorQ Challenge were just right for a guy card and the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge meshed perfectly.  I really like how it turned out.

Stamp Sets:  Gorgeous Grunge, Delightful Dozen (Stampin' Up!), Inks:  Basic Gray, Island Indigo (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Poppy Parade, Whisper White, Basic Gray, Island Indigo, Pool Party (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Silver Brad

Here is the inspiration for the colors to be used in the ColorQ Challenge.  Just click on their name or on the image below to see all the great entries in the challenge.

Jean's Birthday Card

Just when you think you are ahead of the curve, an oh my gosh moment happens.  While adding birthdays to my new calendar, I realized that I had overlooked one.  My friend, Jean, lives in Oregon and her birthday is next week.  So, I sat right down, made this card just for her and sent it on it's way.

For her card, I wanted to follow the challenge over at CAS-UAL Fridays but it also had to be a CAS design.  Don't you think the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge works perfectly?

Stamp Sets:  Loving Thoughts and Beautiful Birthday - retired (Stampin' Up!); Inks:  Wisteria Wonder and Coastal Cabana (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Wisteria Wonder, Coastal Cabana and Winter Frost Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!), Glitzy Glitter Paper (The Cardstock Stack); Accessories & Tools:  Circles Collection Framelits, Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Paper Piercing Tool, Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!), Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

What you can't see is that I stamped a very elegant looking Happy Birthday on the inside of the card using Coastal Cabana on the Wisteria Wonder card stock.  Those two colors look great together.

Here's where you can find the challenges I used for today's card.  Just click on the image and away you'll go!
