Easter Cross for The Friday Mashup Challenge #245

You know, they say that all good things must come to an end but it saddens me that one of my favorite challenges is closing down.  The Friday Mashup Challenge has been a favorite of mine for such a long time.  I'm really going to miss you all.  I want to say that all the wonderful challenges you offered up gave me the opportunity to become a better artist.  Thank You!

For my card I used a Soft Suede card base.  The Crushed Curry layers are from the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper.  I sponged around and over it with some Delightful Dijon and was so pleased with the result.  The sun in the background is from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and the sentiment from the Just Believe stamp set are stamped using Cajun Craze ink.  The Vine Cross is a single stamp from Our Daily Bread.  It's stamped using Cajun Craze ink.  The ribbon is from American Crafts and has just a bit of shimmer to it.  The final step was to add a few Pearl Basic Jewels.

Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

The sketch I used is from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

The Friday Mashup Challenge #206

Well, today is my last time as a Guest Designer for The Friday Mashup!  I have so enjoyed being a part of their team.  Be sure to come join us for this week's challenge.  It's all about umbrellas and polka dots.  You can do either umbrellas or polka dots or you can "mash" it up and do both.  As you can see I did both with a polka dot umbrella.  I took a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper and sponged it with Soft Sky ink to make the polka dots pop.  It's all mounted on a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack.  It looked like raindrops to me so I though it would be a great background for the umbrella.

Stamp Set:  Sincere Salutations (retired); Inks:  Night of Navy, Soft Sky; Card Stock:  Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (retired), Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Scallop Oval Punch, Extra-Large Oval Punch, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, SNAIL Adhesive, Blending Tool, Paper Snips, Stampin' Trimmer

All of the challenge details can be found at The Friday Mashup Challenge.

The Friday Mashup Challenge #204

Would you believe this is the very first shaker card I've ever made?  It's true!  For some reason I've just never attempted one until today.  It's part of the Friday Mashup Challenge.  You can make a shaker card or make a congratulations card or mash it up and make a congratulations shaker card, which is what I did.  It's really hard to photograph a window sheet and bright sequins.

This is my second week as a Guest Designer for The Friday Mashup and I do hope you will join in and show us what you've created.  I'd love to see how you were inspired to use the challenge.

Stamp Sets:  Delightful Dozen, Gorgeous Grunge, Pictogram Punches; Inks:  Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe; Card Stock:  Baked Brown Sugar, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White, Window Sheets; Accessories & Tools:  Labels Collection Framelits Dies, In Color Sequin Assortment, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Stampin' Trimmer

All of the challenge details can be found at The Friday Mashup!

The Friday Mashup Challenge #203

Wow!  I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer at The Friday Mashup Challenge!  I loved the challenge for this week.  It gave me a chance to use this cute little patchwork bunny stamp that was in a magazine I purchased.  Isn't he just too cute!

For today's challenge, create a project using the colors Calypso Coral, Pool Party and So Saffron or a project with an Easter Critter or "mash" it up and make a project that uses both the colors and the critter.

Stamp Sets:  Teeny Tiny Wishes (sentiment), Oscar the Owl (bunny); Inks:  Calypso Coral, Jet Black StazOn, Pistachio Pudding; Stampin' Write Markers:  Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron; Card Stock:  Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Labels Collection Framelits Dies, Whisper White Baker's Twine (dyed Pool Party), Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Blender Pen, Dimensionals, SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

I do hope you can join us this week over at The Friday Mashup!  We'd love to see what you create.  How can you resist such a cute little bunny?

The Friday Mashup! Challenge #196 & Watercooler Challenges #17

With Valentine's Day just a few days away, I had time to make one last card that I needed.  My original idea was to do this in blues but the challenge over at The Friday Mashup was a perfect fit for what I had in mind.  We could create a project using the colors of red, white and pink or create a project using a love theme or do the mash up and create a love themed project using the challenge colors.  I used a lot of white and love how it turned out.  I think my oldest granddaughter will like it.

Stamp Sets:  Butterfly Basics, Pictogram Punches; Inks:  Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Pistachio Pudding, Real Red; Card Stock:  Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Corner Rounder Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, Pink & White Baker's Twine (American Crafts), SNAIL Adhesive, Glue Dots, Dimensionals
All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

The inspiration for my card is from The Friday Mashup Challenge.

I've also added my card to the Watercooler Challenges.  It fit the Valentine challenge.  Be sure to check it out, too.

The Friday Mashup! 195

You know, time just seems to fly when you're having fun.  I should have been in bed and asleep a long time ago but that just didn't happen given the fact that I wanted to get this card made and this post written before crashing for the night.  So, here are the challenge details straight from The Friday Mashup!

This week's Mashup Challenge is:
  • Create a project with the "Sketch."
  • Create a project with "2 different embellishments."
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "with the Sketch and different embellishments."
And, here is the card I made.  The stamp set I used is You Brighten My Day.  It's from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog and one you can get free when you place a $50 order.  Being a seamstress, one of the things I re purpose all the time are buttons.  I have buttons that go back to when my three sons were small.  They'd wear it out and I'd save the buttons.  I have more buttons than I'll ever use in a lifetime.  :-)

Stamp Set:  You Brighten My Day; Ink:  Bermuda Bay; Card Stock:  Bermuda Bay, Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, Red Buttons (from my stash), Handheld Stapler, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

You can find the challenge details at The Friday Mashup Challenge blog.

The Friday Mashup! 194

For some reason I rarely have the need to make a baby card so I really enjoyed making this card for the current Friday Mashup Challenge.  The challenge was to make a project with a baby theme or make a project with the colors of aqua, brown and tangerine or mash it up and combine the two.  I mashed it up and really like the way this one came together.  I wanted the focal point to be the cute little brown duck so I framed him with the aqua and orange.

Stamp Set:  One Tag Fits All; Ink:  Tuxedo Black Memento; Blendabilities:  Coastal Cabana; Copic Markers:  E33-Sand, E37-Sepia, YR02-Light Orange, YR07-Cadmium Orange, YR09-Chinese Orange; Card Stock:  Whisper White, Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack; Accessories & Tools:  Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine, Coastal Cabana In Color Sequins, Baked Brown Sugar In Color Sequins, Multipurpose Glue, Glue Dots, Dimensionals
All Stampin' Up!® product unless otherwise noted.

Here is The Friday Mashup! I used for inspiration.

Secret Garden

Flower shapes was just the thing I need on this bright winter day.  The Friday Mashup! was just want I needed to get going on this card.  You could create a project using the suggested Embossing Folder Technique or create one with Mix & Match Shapes or you could "mash it up" using the technique and the shapes.  I tried my best.  :-)

My first attempt was not good so you aren't going to see that one!  :-)  I used the opposite side of the embossing folder instead of the way the directions had had you use it.  I really like the airiness of the honeycomb.  I dug out my retired Secret Garden stamp set and dies and here is what happened when I put everything together.  I was thinking of my mother and how much I miss her so I added the Happy Mother's Day sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Stamp Sets:  Secret Garden (retired), Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Blackberry Bliss, Crisp Cantaloupe, Crushed Curry, Marina Mist, Tangelo Twist, Wild Wasabi; Card Stock:  Marina Mist, Watercolor Paper, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Honeycomb Embossing Folder, Secret Garden Framelits Dies (retired), Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Pearl Basic Jewels, Radiant Rain Shimmering ICE Mist (Splash of Color), Dimensionals, 2-Way Glue Pen

The Friday Mashup 190 and ColourQ Challenge 273

Well, it's one of those nights when sleep is not coming easy so I'm up making cards.  Actually, I'm getting very sleepy and that is a good thing but it will mean this is a very short post.  My card combines the challenge from The Friday Mashup and the color challenge from ColourQ.  It shows off more of the new products from the 2015 Occasions Catalog, Butterfly Basics Stamp Set and Butterfly Thinlits Dies.

Stamp Sets:  Butterfly Basics, Gorgeous Grunge; Inks:  Calypso Coral, Old Olive; Card Stock:  Hello Honey, Poppy Parade (retired), Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Butterfly Thinlits Dies, Frosted Sequins, Glue Dots, Dimensionals

Wild Tangelo Twist Rose

This week's Friday Mashup challenge is all about background or something 3-D or both.  For my background I dug out one of my favorite Tim Holtz stamps and stamped a wood background to showcase my flower.  To color the rose, I stamped the Tangelo Twist ink pad down on my craft mat, spritzed the ink with water then, laid the flower in the diluted ink.  After drying the rose with my Heat Tool, I sprayed it with some Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist to give it a little sparkle.  As you can tell, I still need to get a light of my photo tent.  The picture is a little dark and does not show off the true color of the flower.  It is much prettier in real life.

Stamp Sets:  Work of Art, Tim Holtz Wallpaper and Wood (Stampers Anonymous); Inks:  Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo (Ranger); Card Stock:  Mossy Meadow, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Doily (Bo Bunny), Wild Rose Flower (Petaloo), Radiant Rain Gold Pearl Shimmering Mist (Creative Imaginations), Mini Glue Dots, SNAIL
All Stampin' Up!® Product unless otherwise noted.

The Squares Have It

Today I'm mashing it up with The Friday Mashup.  The challenge is to make a project using the sketch provided or an assortment of different patterned paper or both to mash it up.  As always, I've mashed it up!  It gave me a chance to use some of the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack.  I'm loving all of those new In Colors.

Stamp Set:  Bloom with Hope (Stampin' Up! Hostess); Ink:  Blackberry Bliss (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Sahara Sand, Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Postage Stamp Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine, Rhinestone Basic Jewels (Stampin' Up!)

Happy Father's Day

It's no secret that I love trees.  When I saw the challenge for The Friday Mashup, I knew exactly what I wanted to create.  One of my all time favorite Stampin' Up!® stamp sets is Lovely As a Tree.  It is one of the first sets I ever purchased and remains at the top of my go list to this day.  For today's card, I used one color, Soft Suede.  I really like the way it turned out.  Clean and simple with a touch of gold.

Stamp Sets:  Lovely As a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes (Stampin' Up!); Ink:  Soft Suede (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Soft Suede, Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Gold Sequin Trim (Stampin' Up!), Birch Trees Embossing Folder (Tim Holtz), Dimensionals

Trees, dry or heat embossing or both.  it's all up to you.  You can find out more about The Friday Mashup Challenge HERE.

Get Well Soon

Don't you think that a get well card should be bright and cheerful?  I do and the bright colors in the current Color Throwdown Challenge were perfect for my card. I love the Melon Mambo together with the silvery glitz.  I took my Lucky Limeade Stampin' Write Marker and filled in some of the lines after I embossed the silver paper with the Arrows Embossing Folder.  It gave it a bit of a metallic look since I thought the sparkle of the glitter paper was just not metal enough.  All in all, the challenge from The Friday Mashup Challenge gave me the sketch and the sentiment for the card.  You could use the sketch, make a get well card or mash it up by using both.

Stamp Sets:  Delightful Dozen, Work of Art (Stampin' Up!); Ink:  Melon Mambo; Stampin' Write Marker:  Lucky Limeade (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack - retired (Stampin' Up!), Glitzy Glitter Paper Stack (DCWV); Accessories & Tools:  Arrows Embossing Folder, Chalk Talk Framelits, Beautiful Wings Embosslit (Stampin' Up!), Distress Stickles (Ranger), Dimensionals

Happy Father's Day on the Open Sea

Hello everyone!  Here I am again mashing it up with The Friday Mashup Challenge.  I so enjoy this challenge.  You should give it a try.  This time we could use the Ombre' Background Technique.  It's one I've seen but never tried.  You can find the tutorial HERE.  Since I needed to make a Father's Day card and because The Open Sea Stamp Set has been on my table forever, it just seemed the perfect time to try this new to me technique.  I used Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo for my colors.  The 'real' card is not so white on the top, the color shows up well but in the picture, it would not cooperate and, no matter how many times I snapped the photo, it still looked the same.  Sigh...

Stamp Sets:  The Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks:  Island Indigo, Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Write Markers:  Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo; Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White; Accessories & Tools:  Circles Collection Framelits, Linen Thread, Dimensionals

Click HERE to see the challenge at The Friday Mashup that inspired my design.

The Friday Mashup Challenge #155

It started raining yesterday and has just not stopped!  It's the kind of spring rain we needed so I'm not complaining.  It gave me the perfect reason to stay home and spend the day in my craft studio.  And, as the saying goes, "April showers bring May flowers."  So, for my card today I made a pretty Calypso Coral flower.  This time The Friday Mashup Challenge gave us the options to use certain colors, a specific shape or to do both.  I tried my best to "mash it up."  I didn't add a sentiment simply because I'm not sure how I'm going to use the card.  Mother's Day, Easter, thinking of you or birthday all seem appropriate.  Guess I'll decide that when the occasion arises where I can use it.

Stamp Set:  Secret Garden (Stampin' Up!); Ink:  Calypso Coral (Stampin' Up!); Card Stock:  Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Wild Wasabi (Stampin' Up!); Accessories & Tools:  Secret Garden Framelits, Circles Collection Framelits, 1/4" Pool Party Ribbon, Pearl Basic Jewels and  Stampin' Dimensionals (Stampin' UP!), Tear Drop Circles Dies (Spellbinders)
